Morning shipmates
Bambywamby, can you tell me more about the organic hair dye? I tried many organic hair dyes years ago that just couldn't cover my greys. So in the end I gave up and now use a double base wella colour. I try to leave the retouch for a lot longer to avoid too much exposure and going over to lighter shades because they have less chemicals than darker shade. Do you think the Daniel range would be strong enough to cover grey?
Yesterday my 16 y.o daughter announced that she was putting her Xmas money in her savings account :money: I like to think my thrifty ways have rubbed off on her but I'm not so sure because my son has spent all his Xmas money already. I often wonder how they can be so different?
Today's simple pleasures.....
Cutting up the cards to make gift tags.
Sewing my husbands ripped trousers pockets up.
Making a crumble for New Year's Eve meal.
Making jewellery for my daughters friends birthdays (most in march).
I do think the range would cover grey yes, I find the shades as effective as other more commercial products. The brunette shades do come out a touch darker than the box suggests, so I would recommend you get a shade lighter. x0 -
I am having a nice relaxing evening in front of the TV after working 8 hours overtime today.
Two hours until we set sail.... and counting.
A fun and safe evening, I hope for you all. xx0 -
well done MOS with the improvised meals.
get well wishes Roadside.
having a quiet snuggly eve with DH, our 2 boys aged 8 & 10 and our 2 old cats. I have been doing some sewing jobs today, repairs and hems which are long overdue. Plenty more in the pile and determined to clear it asap.
Other than a planned trip to the cinema (decided to do as an alternative to a panto this year to save lots of £s) and some top up shops of bread, milk and similar we haven't spent anything extra since the kids broke up from school. I am looking forward to both new and continued challenges in the new year and being thriftier, healthier, less cluttered and generally having a better quality of life.
A very Happy Not Buying It 2015 to you all!0 -
I am hoping that I can be frugal enough in 2015 to recoup some or all of the almost €20k we have spent on my hip replacement and other health investigations......dont begrudge money as all has been a plus, just a few more weeks of recuperation to go, but tend to panic at spending that kind of money.
Problem about sa ing here now is that interest rates are extremely low and tax on interest is 41% so money doesnt accumulate really....thinking at present of bringing house up to a higher level of insulation, new boiler etc, but cant countenance getting rid of every penny.....
Will be keeping a spending journal, as from past experience I know that it is the only way for me to keep a grip on spending.
Happy 2015 everybody

not good spent £45 in the last couple of days.
Some of that was on hair dye remover and some new dyes.
And very naughty got 3 magazine subs. Yes I know but it's £5 for 5 issues. So that £15 spend but 15 magazines and as they are normally £4.99 a pop. And I don't normally buy magazines.
So heres to a new year were I keep my purse tightly shut after spending nearly £300 last week on a new bike and bits and pieces. So I get fit and loose some weight.
happy new year and see you next year

I spent a pound today, went to gym and decided I'd avoid supermarkets, just as well as my mum said she spoke to someone at the bus stop who said the tesco queue was out the door and its a massive tesco. One pack of cat biscuits bought in a corner shop and that was me. Next year I am going to reuse, recycle, shop second hand and use up all my cupboard food stuffs before buying more. Very happy with not setting foot in a supermarket today.0

Ahoy!
Just popping my head out of the cabin to wish the crew a very Happy New Year for 2015!
I have checked the main sail, battened down the hatches and hoisted the flag ready for departure. As I probably won't be on deck tomorrow as driving to York and back here's hoping our departure is smooth and the outlook sunny.
Hope to catch up with you all tomorrow night so until then..
CHEERS and down the hatch!
Kind regards
Slowdown:)

Evening all shipmates and may I wish you all a happy new year xxx
Too many to remember but some lovely chat and ideas I need to however go back and read fully rather than my quick flick through I've just had. Hugs to anyone in need xxx
Failed to declutter for 2015 but rather than feel annoyed I'm congratulating myself on the rooms that have been totally gutted if you like, the entire upstairs is done and all stored in dd's bedroom for the charity shop, my room took 6 hours yesterday it didn't even look that bad to start with and who needs 27 pairs of jeans:eek: needless to say I now have just 9 pairs. Sorted all baby girls clothes not sure if it's quicker to just donate them or ebay not sure how baby clothing go's anymore.
All the downstairs to go but aiming for end of January to have completed it all.
Stepped off the ship (sorry) nye meal out with the kids tonight to the beefeater now feeling a little awful we spent the equivalent of a weeks shopping but had a good few hours together with the kids chatting away, it now stops meals out are only for Birthdays and this will be in doubles (ie hubby and my son) (son and step-daughter) and so forth not in same place and wherever has a deal on with 9 of us it's too much and birthdays are days apart with some of them.
£76 spend in asda yesterday on things we needed, 3 boxs of cat food (150 sachets) nappisan (finding his harder to find) water filters pair of jeans each for 2 of the boys (when de cluttering found some of theirs too tatty to hold onto) and a few needed bits, shouldn't need to touch a shop for at least a week and even then should only be for milk bread fruit butter.
Made 3 gyspy tarts today not something I will make oftern as I am sure my waistline will not be thanking me for them, nothing to sort for dinner tomorrow as off to the parents, for a second almost xmas dinner (they have turkey and all the trimmings) they picked up a huge crown from Mr T reduced to just under £8 from £45, we are taking a few bits from our cupboard and freezer so it will be a super cheap roast for 10 ( my 3 are with their dad).
Thank you for the site on waste (apologies to the lovely ship mate who posted I have a brain like a sieve for remembering names) I recycle but not food waste (maybe I was just being lazy) took me 5 mins to drop and email request to council for a food waste and caddy bin which should arrive in 2 weeks, I do hate how food is so over packaged here. Found 7 cloth bags under my bed all are out and ready to use rather than take bags back to the supermarket or handing to ocado man.
Anyway ready to be a part of sailing 2015 with you allDebt free
