    WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!
To all the new shipmates, pleased to have you aboard.

'I think we're gonna need a bigger boat' Skipper :rotfl:

Swift kick up the bum for myself today. Glorious walk in the cold with the family and Duck the Dog in his new coat.
Now we're home and snuggling up, the boys are watching family films and I'm on the comp.
I've found 5 recipes to try for my first week of No Supers'. Will be checking the cupboards for the dry ingredients, then write my shopping list and where I think I can get these things avoiding the SM's.
Lunches should be simple enough, but brekkie might pose a problem. Guess I'll need to get my butt organised and make some breakfast goodies too :T

Scotch[sp?] pancake's, one batch of batter makes a lot, you can add fruit as you cook 'em, and they freeze, also look on the recipe section of the groucery challange for home made cerel bars.hth

im on tea break from the depths of my kitchen clear out the first thing I clicked on to is my inventory system (relying on everybody to log whats needs replacing and sticking things back in the appropriate cupboard) was a totally naff idea on my part.
One of my kitchen units must back on to Narnia or somewhere as I seem to have accumulated huge amounts of the most random of items, still trying to work out how/why we have 19 packs of sugar free jelly

Bag filled for the food bank and a few small kitchen electrical's for free-cycle 6 cupboards down 12 to go it's lovely having such a massive kitchen but stuff does tend to get dumped then forgotten about on the plus side I haven't spent a bean since the 23rd but then other than a quick wander around Mevagissey yesterday for a breath of air I haven't left the house.

    All the jar? x

I wouldn't use the whole jar the recipe I have only calls for 2 or 3 small ones think the whole jar would be too overpowering I like to have pickled onion with cheese sandwiches, with cold meat and chips and in salad.

    Permission to come aboard?!

I mostly lurk around the boards and have been following this thread with interest. I have been ill for several months now and off work for almost two months. I think I am pretty much set up for "not buying it 2015" and if is lovely to see so many like minded people here. I am sure that with each other's support we can keep motivated. I have a good job but don't know how much longer for with ill health. I think the job is part of the reason for my illness, so can empathise with many on here. I shop locally and at lidl, so will need to think about no SMs but do make lots from scratch and was lucky enough to buy a bread maker off ebay ( second hand but only used once) just before Christmas so I am now bread and dough making from scratch too. Would just like to waste less ( nothing) and improve my health to start 2015. Bigger things lie ahead once I am fully fit!!

    Hi everyone,

Consumerism nearly got me today. As part of a New Year resolution I am going to learn how to bake bread. Having decided this, I went on to Amazon and looked at baking equipment. I had a bread bag, proving baskets and covers, loaf tins and all sorts of other bits and pieces in my basket before I knew it. Fortunately, I remembered this thread and had a think about what I actually would need (knead lol).

I can make a bread bag out of a spare pillowcase I have upstairs, I already have loaf tins as I make cakes regularly, the dough can prove in one of my many mixing bowls and I have several rolls of cling film to cover it before I can get a shower cap to do the job. I deleted my basket and got the heck out of there :D.

No need for clingfilm (something I don't even possess personally) or a shower cap (ditto) to cover bread whilst its rising. I just put the dough into its breadbaking tins and put a teatowel over the top of the containers....I've got plenty of teatowels:D

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite people :p

DS loves pancakes (esp the McD's breakfast ones) so that will definitely be one to add. He wont eat loads, so I imagine one round of batter will last us 2 days.
I'm considering breakfast muffins as well. I have a drawer of frozen fruit in the freezer from DH's smoothie fix he went on (and then broke the blender). So that would help to use that up.

Feeling much more upbeat about it all now :T

Debtmess Sorry to hear you're feeling frustrated by it all. I can relate. Would you be able to re-sell the blu ray? Its clearly not doing anything for you, but the £'s earnt could?
DH was trying to talk to me about a ps4..... I refuse to enter into conversation about it  He has a ps3, works full time, has courses to do, and a young son to spend time with.... He doesnt have the time for the ps3 so he wont have time for a 4 either

Ahoy there shipmates. Haven't been posting but have been reading faithfully.

Am just having a break from a mega tidy up, have sorted out the fridge, freezing some bits for later before they go off. Need to do a freezer inventory, I know I need chicken and fish. But other than that not much else.

Have been installing some wardrobes, now that they are fitted I can see that I need a slimline chest of drawers/tall boy. The wardrobes have mirrored doors so I shall use my Christmas money to treat myself to a mirrored tall boy.

I'm decluttering as I go along, so when I go to buy the tall boy tomorrow I can drop, some stuff off at the chazzza shop. i also have to do tip run - I lead such a glamourous life::rotfl:

I'm going to have to,take the Christmas tree down today. It's a living tree and is looking very dry. It has been squashed into a tiny pot so it needs potting on asap. I normally like to keep decorations up until around 3rd Jan but I don't want the tree to die so needs must.

Lunch break over - time to crack on.

If I don't get the chance to,post again..

    Happy New Year Everyone.

Pickle pot - sorry to hear that you've had a bad year at work but glad that you can see a way out.

Have you read Mr Moneymoustache - it's all about getting into a position so you can opt of of the rat race. Plus there are several minimalist blogs, Zen Habits, Slow Your Home are interesting.

good luck with your journey. I am sure you will get there, you really don't need a huge income to lead a happy life.

It's surprising just how little can be enough once you get out of the consumerist mindset.
