Do you appreciate the contradiction you've just posted?
If the machine still has life in it (reconditioning doesn't make it like a whole new machine) then the hoses still have life in them.
It's not really a contradiction.
Yes, a hose could have years of life left in it provided that the hose is left in the same position and fitted to the washing machine.
The rubber hose or sealing washers could have become age hardened and start cracking if moved around and if a small leak does occur, due to the position of the hoses this leak may not become apparent for quite some time, during which, a fair bit of damage may happen.
For the sake of a few pounds verses a potential water leak which could cause very expensive damage, I would say that it's worth replacing the hoses with new ones. The reconditioned machine may come with hoses that the shop had lying around and who knows how old they may be.0 -
Jack the lad moves into first floor flat and installs his washer under kitchen worktop.(how hard can it be?)
Few months later, person living below notices problem with plasterboard ceiling . ..
Jack hadn't noticed that he'd lost the rubber seals from both water pipes during house moving and the leaking water was slowly spreading under the vinyl floorcovering. (I have seen cases where the washers remain firmly stuck to the washer taps when the pipes have been removed)
Result:
Remove sink and associated plumbing
Remove worktop
Remove kitchen cabinets
Remove vinyl flooring
Remove large area of damaged timber floor
Remove damaged plasterboard ceiling from kitchen below
Treat joists to prevent mould etc
Fit new floorboards
Plasterboard and skim ceiling below - Fit new light fittings
Refit all units, worktop, sink (and re-plumb)
Fit new vinyl flooring
Paint ceiling below
Finally: Re-install washer using NEW !!!!!!!! pipes.
Over £2000 for the sake of new pipes (I know there's only 1 pipe, cold fill now)
Ps It wasn't me, I lived below . . .:mad:0 -
And I phoned the other place when trying to see if it was usual for items to come minus pipes etc, and they said all of their reconditioned items came with the water feed pipes and wastage pipes
So you've gone out of your way to post about this online and to call a different company if it is usual practice but haven't bothered to call the shop you actually bought it from to get them to clarify why you were told one thing when the receipt says another.0 -

You mean the shop that closed at 3pm? Yeah, you're right, I thought I'd check out what the deal was from avenues that were available at the time.0
