Spending 15k a month

Options
So. I earn 2100net PCM.

I have an unusual job, I pay for a multitude of work related things and I'm then reimbursed as often as I like.

I regularly spend £15k pcm and I'm then reimbursed. This year there was a month where I spent 34k in 1 month.

I put all of this through my current account, which is in credit, through Barclays.
I have a capital 1card with. £450 limit. I rarely use it. I don't even know the pin, just use it for contactless payments occasionally.

I have a ccj paid off 4 years ago.
No mortgage yet, I'm considering one on the otherside of this forum.
No other debts.

So my questions:

Are there any credit cards I should be using? I'm guessing cash back would be wisest?

Is there a certain type of card which has larger limits? I.e 15k?
I assume on a net salary of £2100 one that large is impossible?

Is there a way I can get a card in my name paid for by my boss. I have heard the term charge cards used before but I don't know what that means!

Any other advise/questions welcome :money:
Excuse my ignorance please :-)

Impossible. PIN is required after so many contactless uses.

No you wouldn't be able to get a credit card with £15k limit, even if you earned £100,000 a year, not with a CCJ on your file.
  • We'll that shows you how rarely I use it as I definitely don't know the pin!

Ccjs are removed after 7 years I do believe?

Have you ever used it with the PIN?

    It's 6 years
  • Yes but certainly not in 2014. Had this card since 2013, haven't used the card at all in a few months at least.

I suppose I should look online or ring them for a new pin!

Oh, 6 years is better I guess.

Is it 6 years from date of issue, or date of last entry, which would be to say it was settled.

    Thanks

If you log in to your online account, there's an option to get a pin reminder there.

6 years from the date is was issued
  • As MrSilk has said, you've got no chance of getting a higher limit with anyone whilst you've got a CCJ on your file. Best thing you can do for the time being is use your Capital One card for groceries or something, and pay it off in full every month. Once the CCJ drops of you might be able to get a better card.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.
  • Are there alternatives to my current set up which would fall outside of this credit card category?

    Prepaid cards?
    Current accounts?

I might rock the boat and speak to the boss and try and get some kind of bank card of of the so they pay it directly.

Although if I'm missing out on cash back that may not be the thing to do :-s

The sort of cashback you'd be eligible for at the moment wouldn't be much, even if you are spending £150 a month, it would be capped at £100 a year, if you're lucky.

A charge card does not have a rolling credit facility, you have to pay the full balance each month.

What you need is for your employer to provide you with a company credit card for your expenses. AFAIK These cards are not dependent on your own credit file. Some are billed to and settled by the employer, others are billed to and settled by the user.

If billed to you, you may get the benefit of any points or rewards, unless your employer decides otherwise.
