I am not going to get involved in your arguments but he is a lot closer to the truth than you are. Maybe you have an exceptional dog walker, but I to know someone who has a dog walking business that started off as a couple of dogs when he walked his own and he got so many enquiries he packed in his job as plasterer. He earns more doing the dog walking and the only thing he really has is the cage/pen for the car and insurance.0 -
Perhaps - but personally I would not use just anyone to walk my dog and neither would anyone I know.
It may be an easy job - for someone who really loves animals and cares about their welfare and is not in it just for the money.
My dog/cats are very important to me and they only ever get the best - as long as I can afford it of course.0 -
Ok I have a quick update
I have an interview on Thursday (04.12.2014) for a job in a warehouse in Barnsley (40 hours a week @ £6.77 for the first 6 months, then £7.25 per hour after that), I can work Mon-Fri (7am-3pm)
If I get this job then I may ask KFC if I can stay on part-time and just do Saturday & Sunday (9am-5pm)
So I would make the new job my main job & my current job would become my 2nd job
I may also have another option too, which is to take on a part-time job at another KFC restaurant (about 2 miles from my current restaurant), This could also work as my manager may be able to coordinate with the other manager to give me a few suitable shifts0 -
Brilliant news, well done0

What ever you decide the tax man will aways be there at the end of every week/ month for his share0
-
Best option tax wise would be to work at the second kfc. As long as they tax you as one job.
If you get the factory job I would decide which has the better career prospects and go with that. You don't want to work too hard. Personally I would do no more than 59 hours and ensue I have two full days off.0 -
I would be looking at doing about 54 hours, but I would not get a full day off at all0

You need at least one day off a week. You'll burn out without it.
Personality I would want two but I realise this may not be possible
If you get the 40 hours at the warehouse I would give up on anything else. I don't think a second job for 10 hours is worth if.0 -
Maybe that is a good idea, I will have to have a word with both the potential employer & my current manager, to see where to go from here as KFC have been good to me, giving me (3 years unemployed & no qualifications) a chance & all, i don't want to leave them in the lurch, but the warehouse job is so much more money & believe me I need it0

Ignore the blx about tax you pay less on two jobs that you do with 1(for the same total pay).
If the KFC is local/convenient/easy to get to doing shifts there make sense, keeps you on the books and is a great fall back,
I do agree that 1 day off a week is a good target so I would not commit to both the sat and Sun, may be an Fri evening and Sat or Sun would be a better fit.
Don't forget that the KFC still accrues holiday pay and you will have at least 5.6 weeks holiday fro the warehouse so if earning more is a goal there is time then for extra shifts.
Make sure you understand the expectations of the warehouse job OT and weekend working.0
