Hotel staff. I wouldn't find it wholey unlikely that they would try to stop me leaving without paying (understandably on their side). The police might get involved if called.0 -

I understand what you're saying but I know that I left the iPad in my bag, which was in my room. On return, all my property was gone and on talking to staff, they told me they had taken it all. Then it was returned minus the only item of value I had left there.0 -

I have had 3 occasions when stuff has been stolen. Each time its been nicked. It was the staff. No doubt. In India they showed (mock) concern.
In Spain , they shrug their shoulders."What can I do?" , next please!0 -
I left a favourite cardigan in a Travelodge wardrobe at 8.30 one day, I realised at 1pm and rang the hotel. Nothing in the left property book and so Someone checked the room, no cardigan in the wardrobe and the only person who had been in the room was the cleaner. Now its not rocket science where it had gone.
mmm... Do you think a good quality cardigan which was a favourite of mine would be a fair exchange for a pair of fluffy white bath towels........make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
The question of the hotel being responsible is debatable, you left your iPad in your luggage when a safe is available... ....They only have your word that you had an iPad with you......you most certainly will be arrested if you refuse to pay the bill as you are a foreigner and therefore it will be nye on impossible for them to chase you for payment. I would certainly expect a claim under s75 to fail as it is a service you paid for and the service was fulfilled.0

For fluffy white bath towels - yes
Name and shame the hotel and I will do a similar swap0 -
Looking at the legal protection for the supply of services in the UK, it says that the supplier must provide them with reasonable skill and care. In this case, where the hotel room is the service, has reasonable care been provided? Arguably not, as my property has gone missing whilst in the care of the hotel. I know that this is a UK law and not Bulgarian, however s75 protection applies worldwide, so would that mean that I my credit card company could be held liable on that basis (and so allow a claim under s75)?0
