I have a friend at work, whose mother-in-law has found, what she thinks are mouse legs, in a tin of Sainsburys basic soup. My friend has seen the soup and has told me that you can clearly see that they are small animal legs. At the moment, Sainsburys have offered her £50 to return the tin back to the store. Not surprisingly, she wants a lot more money before she returns it.
I have advised my friend to tell her to take some photos as well as keep all correspondence with S/burys so that she can then escalate to the Food Standards Agency.
If I hear anything further, I will let everyone know.
For me, I will avoid Sainsburys completely now.
More than £50 for soup thats less than £1?, wow talk about greedy. Well you either take the hush money or report to FSA not both.Need to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me0 -
Can we expect to see her in a local rag soon? Looking angry and pointing to a tin of soup? "What if my disabled child had eaten it?" I'm getting a picture here......0

To be honest your friends MIL and your attitude to think totally stinks. You basically want to fleece Sainburys for as much money as possible and the shop them anyway? Disgusting attitude.
Either take Sainsburys up on their (very generous) offer or send the product to the FSA. So she needs to decide, does she want compo or does she want the standards to improve? She can't do both. The FSA won't do anything with photos, they'll want the original product to test and similarly Sainburys know this, they won't pay out without the original product either.
I've no idea how much she is seriously expecting for this but £50 is more than I'd have expected so I'd suggest she takes this.0 -
Why has no one asked the most important question yet...what flavour was the soup?
And did she have any crusty rolls to go with it?0 -

I think that is a question that has been answered......
