A new debt free journey

Expenses have been paid this morning so I sent the money straight to my loan  That's £180 plus interest saved. They seem to take ages to send confirmation letters so I won't know exactly what I'm saving in interest for a while but it's the first big overpayment I've made to the loan and is more than one month's payment so it's a great feeling. :money: I'll update my signature later once I've worked out what % I've now paid off.0

Just worked out I'm now at 17%, only 8% to go to hit my December target.0

Paid another £1 off the credit card today. Had the interview yesterday for the really great job I recently applied for. I'm not hopeful but we will wait and see.0

Thanks everyone!
Another £1 paid this morning. Not much but it all counts. I've had the letter from Sainsbury's confirming that I saved £5 interest when I paid £20 and almost £2 when I paid an extra £5. Can't wait to see what difference £180 makes! Gosh I need to get out more.....0 -
Busy few days with work and volunteering. I got my hair cut on Wednesday, very much needed, £25 which was budgeted for. It does mean that this week I'll only manage 3 NSD'S instead of 4 but I'm not going to beat myself up. I'm still going on the PAD front which is most important, managed an extra £9 so far.
Frustrating news from BT. When I called them out back in July to fix my Internet, they said I might be charged if the fault was mine. It was a simple fault, I'd been turning the router off at night which apparently I shouldn't have done, but I didn't know any different. Anyway I received my bill via email yesterday and they've charged me £130 for the call out. I called them and they said any time an engineer is called out they charge. I checked their website again while still on the phone, and it definitely says I MIGHT be charged and they would let me know following the visit (which they didn't). Their advisor told me it doesn't matter what the website says!
Long story short, it has to be passed on to another department to look into within 10 working days. Either way I don't have £130 extra to magic up for the direct debit, so I had to cancel it. I made a separate payment to cover the cost of the actual bill itself, and told them I'd done so. Very frustrating indeed. The thing is, I would very begrudgingly pay it because I know that in theory yes, it was 'my' fault because I'd been turning the router off (although I didn't know I shouldn't). But to only give 7 days notice isn't on, particularly when it's been three months since the engineer visited
Anyway, I'll see what they come back with. I might complain further just to try my luck based on it being a genuine mistake and not deliberately causing the router damage etc, but hopefully they will see sense :rotfl:0 -
Okay so I've gone from having a bit of a moan this morning to having some amazing news... I got the job I went for!!! I am completely in shock and amazed. It's an absolutely fantastic opportunity and I can't wait. Also the starting salary is £30500, so it's a fantastic chance to pay my debt off much quicker! :j:beer:
I'm not gonna lie, I have broken my T total until Christmas rule tonight and have bought a bottle of prosecco to share with OH0 -
That is fantastic news! Massive congratulations :j:j:j:j
Enjoy the prosecco. :beer:Not giving up
