I have a plethera of (hardware) gadgets out of which my current favourite is my nowtv box (to get free -legal- walking dead).0

Not sure how knowing what devices might contain microprocessors helps understand how they work.
You would be better starting at transitor and working up it you really want to know how they work.
At an intermediate level then the intel X86... manuals is quite good for understaning one class of CPU.
For an understanding of how higher level software languages map on to the hardware then have a look how compilers work.0 -

I am particularly interested to hear from people who work in IT and particularly developers. I am a developer trying to improve my understanding of how computers work at a lower level?
Do you have phones, PC's, tablets, gadgets. It would be good to see a list.
I am referring to gadgets with a microcontroller.
