I am particularly interested to hear from people who work in IT and particularly developers. I am a developer trying to improve my understanding of how computers work at a lower level?

Do you have phones, PC's, tablets, gadgets. It would be good to see a list.

I am referring to gadgets with a microcontroller.

How will knowing what gadgets people have help you to understand how they work at a lower level?

Sounds more like marketing research to me.

It most certainly is not market research. I asked a similar question here today: http://electronics.stackexchange.com/questions/140481/lower-level-system-development. Perhaps Stack Overflow is better for this type of question.

Why is that? I would perhaps say the same thing if I read some of your questions, but I would not post it as an answer.

I mean a computing gadget i.e. something with a microcontroller in it. I have revised the question.

Have a Wi-Fi Pineapple, an S100 anyway jig, and a few home built toys (Arduino based clock, 10 channel light sequencer, card programmer, etc) kicking around.

Maybe it is to check if they work on the floor as opposed to a table?

    I have gadgets

What do you mean by lower level and why would knowing what gadgets people have improve your understanding?

I'm not sure that IT people really do "gadgets", my friends and I all watch the gadget show and laugh at some of the rubbish they come up with, usually along the lines of "seriously? what sort of idiot needs that?".
