What gadgets to you have?

I'm a developer, only have a 10 year old PC, no phone, tablets or any other 'smart' device, don't even have a watch although I do stretch to an mp3 player

What are you trying to develop, these days most things I see don't give any concern to the amount of memory they may be using etc. Unless you intend developing a new compiler or some specific low level machine code type stuff everything tends to have libraries that handle all the low level stuff.0 -
At the lower level they all work in the same way, lots of ones or zeros (or ones and zeros in the case of quantum computing).
Anyhow:
iPad
iPhone
watch
cutter
printer
scanner
router
apple tv
xbox 360
xbox controller
tv remote
It depends on your definition of gadget as most things nowadays have a processor of sorts.0 -
Apart from the usual stuff like a desktop PC, a laptop, a netbook, an EEE box, a phone, a tablet, several games boxes, TV set top boxes, several TVs, a car, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a DAB radio, a car, several amateur radio transceivers, an IP camera, a CCTV DVR, a few watches and some electronic test gear I don't think I have anything with a microcontoller in it.I mean a computing gadget i.e. something with a microcontroller in it.
I worked in IT from 1970 until I retired in 2011 but I still don't have a detailed a knowledge of how any of them work.0 -
Maybe you should have asked people to provide a list of what they have, then you would know...apparently.kwikbreaks wrote: »I worked in IT from 1970 until I retired in 2011 but I still don't have a detailed a knowledge of how any of them work.0 -

I am particularly interested to hear from people who work in IT and particularly developers. I am a developer trying to improve my understanding of how computers work at a lower level?
Do you have phones, PC's, tablets, gadgets. It would be good to see a list.
I am referring to gadgets with a microcontroller.
As others have said, I can't see how getting a list of gadgets etc can help gain an understanding of how computers work at a lower level (what ever that means). I am a developer, and someone telling me they had a casio watch wouldn't tell me how the thing worked!
Are you trying to build your knowledge in a particular field? your question is vague to say the least - and on that itself I find it very hard to believe you are a developer - developers tend to be very specific (logically) as that is the way their minds work. It's like the old developer anecdote...
"a developers wife asked him to go to the shop and get a dozen eggs, if they any loaves of bread, get two"
I will see if anyone out there knows the punchline :rotfl:0 -
would my fleshlight be classed as a gadget"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0
