Amazon Black Friday scam

Again, you are completely missing the point! They are not claiming it is reduced by 55% off the previous deal, they are saying it is reduced off the RRP (which is generally a made up number anyway). It's just that last week happened to be an even better deal of 65% off RRP or whatever it would work out to be. Tough titty for those that missed the better deal.
I'm all for personal responsibility. That doesn't make it OK for Amazon to pretend that goods which are actually more expensive than they were a week ago, are "reduced by 55%".0 -
Prices rise and fall all the time and as pointed out it does say RRP.
Im unsure where the scam is?
Milk last week at the corner shop was 59p a pint, this week for some reason its 55p - is it a scam?Dont rock the boat
Dont rock the boat ,baby0 -
No I'm not that stupid but many are. The point is this is NOT a scam. It's an age old marketing ploy to take advantage of stupid people. It's not a scam because it's not promising something it can't deliver. Are you actually seriously saying you don't think Amazon are deliberately advertising this as 55% in the full knowledge that plenty of people will assume it's a genuine 55% off the USUAL price, regardless of whether it says RRP.
Personally I don't believe you are that stupid.0 -

Hmm, so you're admitting the RRP is a made-up number but saying that advertising a 55% reduction from a price that by your own admission is made-up, ISN'T a scam.

Op thanks for the heads up on the camel camel site I ha 've never come across it before, a little confused though as I can't see were it was previously on sale for 44.95..I'm obviously missing something.0

The fact it's an old scam doesn't make it not a scam. We all know every furniture shop in Britain perpetrates the same scam 50 weeks of the year on every item they sell.
It is promising something it can't deliver; it's advertising a 55% reduction when in fact it's a 0% reduction. Hiding it behind semantics doesn't stop that being a scam, quite the opposite.0 -
Again, still not a scam!!! Just a way of taking advantage of the stupid masses that populate the Internet and high streets. RRP has always been a load of rubbish for longer than you or I have been on this planet. If it was a scam it would have been made illegal a long time ago.Hmm, so you're admitting the RRP is a made-up number but saying that advertising a 55% reduction from a price that by your own admission is made-up, ISN'T a scam.

Checkout the last 5 price changes down the bottom r-hand corner. It was £44.99 on 20th November.
Camelcamelcamel is v useful & not just at sale times, if you've never used it before it's an eye-opener how much prices fluctuate. I stumbled across it when I had a laptop in my basket for awhile & the price kept jumping between £600 & £800 on a daily basis.0 -

I give up! Off you go then and start your online petition to get this heinous 'scam' stopped. I won't be holding my breath!0 -

You're saying you think something has to be illegal to be a scam? But we both know there are a million ways to act within the law & yet rip people off. Laws are revised all the time because of it.0
