    Afternoon all :hello:

I have potted £20 and tipped the loose change from my purse in as well - just shrapnel.

This week I have been busy booking accommodation for our holiday in March. We are going to Nerja and Granada this time. More later

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend

    Hi all :)

Not sure if I actually joined this year, but have been doing it anyway! I've got a very chunky pot that I'm looking forward to opening on the 5th, could someone please get me a number if its not too much trouble?

    Hiya

I had a quick look - the list is near the beginning - but couldn't see you.

I'm sure Sue will know when she passes by and will give you a number, or tell you if you already have one.

Welcome anyway, don't forget to read the first post and I see you already have the opening date noted.

Good luck and don't forget to let us know how much you've saved as soon as you can after the 5th so Sue can do the totals

It's wonderful to see you back again, DomRavioli!!! I thought you'd left us, so it's lovely to see you. A very warm welcome home to you. :grinheart Don't forget to declare the contents of that chunky pot on or around the 5th!! :D You'll find your number at the bottom of the list on post 2nd post of page 1.

Thanks so much, Lynne, DomRavioli is an old SPC friend of several years and knows the ropes, but here's a gold star for you as I'm just so glad you welcomed her back a lot earlier than I'd have been able to. :staradmin Well done with the saving, Lynne! It sounds as though you'll now be able to really look forward to those already booked holidays when Scotland's throwing it's worst at you during winter. So chuffed for you! :D

Evening all SPCers! I hope you're all well and prepared for a great weekend! Anyone in need of {{{Hugs}}} to help them through illness or problems, you have them in abundance. Meanwhile take good care and be kind and patient with yourselves.

Thanks Sue. My total is £662.85 :D:D. A quarter of that I am using to buy presents for the giving tree (if they ever announce it!!) and I will change the rest into dollars.

I'll start next years pot tomorrow :D so I'll still be on here most days, and I will definitely be here on the 5th November to see everyones totals roll in :D

Oh 32b3, you have to be sooooooo very proud of a superb amount of savings!!!! :j:T:jExcellent work, and I hope you soon get word from the Giving Tree folk. Have fun with those dollars mind!

Hi Sue, I'd like to declare €138

Not quite as much as last year but I did get married, and go on honeymoon so I'm all reared up for next SPC for next year! Keeping the same tin again - very MSE :money:

Excellent potting, tatabubbly!!!!:T:dance:As you say, you've had a very expensive year so all credit to you for having cash now - that you saved!!

Ok Hicksy, so that's another £60 to add to your £429 - brilliant work!!! :T Good sale too. :D

Good for you, Kerry, not long to wait now!

Hi Ruth, not entirely sure what you meant re the notes and your friend, but so long as you do that's all that counts. I know what you mean about the roadkill though, to be honest I haven't opened mine for at last 4 - 5 years, but I know there are at least 2 x £5ers in it, just waiting for the right year to open it, but can't bring myself to yet. Daft I know, but.....!

£3.50 for the nearly full pot! I can feel everyone's excitement as we count down - well virtually anyway :D

Well done, Dragon Lily, and it's wonderful to hear your excitement as things build up!! Always keep saving and always get that thrilling time each year!:D

Don't worry, mossy, I'll be here waiting just as soon as you're ready. All the best with your assignment.

Sorry to be so late today, folks, but it's been all go as it's my DH's Birthday! So we had a brilliant family meal at lunch time, a great afternoon and a wonderful family evening!! Add to that our DGD's safe return from France a few moments ago - you get the picture I'm sure. Goodnight all, have a good one.

Have a GREAT WEEKEND, everyone, and don't forget.......there are only 12 saving days to go!!!

    Sue xx

NB: SPC Savers: 5th November will be the new 2015 opening date!

    Oh,it's all getting too exciting.
A couple of weeks ago I phoned O2,my mobile provider, querying my October phone bill.Because I never knew how to access my bill online,I wanted to know what the substantial increase was due to.Our home phone handset has not been working for a while,so am using my mobile for alot more than I would normally.I had forgotten that 0845 numbers are very expensive!!
Tonight I was looking at my bill online (since the nice man had taught me how to -go me!!).It was abit confusing to simple old me so I went and did an online chat .The person I was chatting to typed very slowly so I could understand better :rotfl::rotfl:,then told me that because I am a loyal customer he has just credited my account with £10 :j:j.Just like that-didn't ask for it or anything.Maybe the consultant had had a day of people yelling at him about their bills, etc, and he wanted to reward me for not trying to blame him for my bills :rotfl::rotfl:.
So tonight I put £10 in the pot-money I have saved by not spending on a bill that hasn't arrived yet :D.

I wanted to know what the substantial increase was due to. Our home phone handset has not been working for a while,so am using my mobile for a lot more than I would normally. I had forgotten that 0845 numbers are very expensive!!
Call charges for 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers have two parts. The Access Charge is the part you pay to your telephone provider for connecting and conveying the call and which they keep. This can be up to 12p per minute from landlines or up to 45p per minute from mobiles. The Service Charge is the part that is paid to the benefit of the called party and their telecoms provider and pays them for the chargeable service that you made use of. Ofcom's changes, effective 1 July 2015, confirm that all 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers are premium rate. The premium is the Service Charge. If you have to call these numbers, it is important to compare Access Charges and use the method with the lowest.

There should be almost no need to call 084 and 087 numbers. Regulations from BIS that came into effect on 13 June 2014 require retailers, traders and passenger transport companies to use 01, 02, 03 or 080 numbers for post sales helplines. Guidance from the Cabinet Office published on 26 December 2013 suggests public services use 01, 02, 03 or 080 numbers. Regulations from the FCA comes into effect on 26 October 2015 and requires financial services, including banks and insurance companies, to use 01, 02, 03 or 080 numbers. Most users of 084 and 087 numbers have swapped to the matching 034 or 037 number or to some other 01, 02, 03 or 080 number.

Wherever you see an 084 or 087 number advertised, try calling the matching 034 or 037 number first. If it works, it will be a cheaper call. If it doesn't, there's no charge for trying. Check the official website of the organisation you are calling for their latest numbers. Increasingly, these will start 01, 02, 03 or 080. Calls to 03 numbers cost the same as calling 01 and 02 numbers and count towards inclusive allowances on landlines and on mobiles. This Ofcom rule has been in place since 2007. Calls to 080 numbers are free from landlines and from mobiles. This Ofcom rule came into effect on 1 July 2015.
