Hi all, I havent caught up in a while but been a bit slow on the old potting front recently. Had A big pile of change in my purse and hubby's tray so just emptied the whole lot in.

£9 in the £ tin and £3.72 in the change tin. Total= £12.72. Hope everyone is well and I'll try to do better!
    CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

£3.01 potted. Not entirely sure where the 1p came from, they're sneaky those pennies! But none the less he's been sent to join the other coins, he can show them his ninja skills.

So that's £103.01 saved so far. That'll teach me to doubt myself. Only £96.99 left to save.

And inspired by this challenge and how well I am doing I have set myself a fresh start challenge. Lose 70lb and make £600 of extra debt payments by 2016. But instead of worrying that I might not manage it, I'm thinking positive.
If I'm losing weight, I'm eating less (I eat healthy generally but too many big portions!) which means my grocery bill will be less which means more money to go on the debt!
No more making the same mistakes!

  • Hiya all, first post in a week, am still struggling on the potting front, have stopped drawing out cash as much. Have bought ynab and finding it far easier to budget without drawing out cash. Will pot as and when and will still continue to post on here, I am still thinking of drawing out a fiver or a tenner every month so at least something is going in but not sure if this defeats the object.

Little bit annoyed, just discovered another £120 debt I didn't know about. So cannot decide what to do about the challenge. With the original debt that £600 would bring me down to £495, under £500. But should I keep the challenge and have more debt or up the challenge to £720 and keep the goal at being under £500 in debt by October 2016?

Could you do a virtual sealed pot? So skim the bank, bringing what's in there to the nearest £5? Keeps the same idea, but it would make more sense if you plan to use your card more. Plus then if you decided to buy pressies online in advance, you can quickly switch the money over via online banking? I think someone else on here is doing a virtual sealed pot? x
