OP at least your kitty isn't doing it out of spite - just kittenish excitement and exuberance. I've given up with xmas trees - Demon Cat will walk into the lounge, sit at your feet, scream so you look at him, when you do he then walks to sit in front of the tree, looks at you over his shoulder, screams again to make sure you are watching and then rugby tackles the tree. That done, he moves to the sofa, curls up and pretends to be asleep.

I did read one good tip online to stop tall trees falling over - put a hook or screw in your ceiling, and tie the top of the tree to it with clear fishing line (one with a high breaking weight - sea fishing line goes up to a 50lb line).

You can't stop a kitten doing what he wants, when mine were kittens I had to pick up a large tree off the floor every morning and every evening when I came back from work and decorate the tree every day :) one of them would even fall asleep on top of the tree once she had managed to knock it down. After the first Xmas I gave up, now I have no tree, it's so much easier, plus I now also have a puppy who would love to chew on that tree, the cats would probably knock the tree over and blame the puppy :)

I do still put up a xmas tree, what I've found has brought damage limitation a little bit is not putting it on the floor, but instead I set it on our glass coffee table. Cat can't get the same purchase from the glass surface to launch himself up the tree, so he contents himself with tormenting the baubles he can easily reach until they fall off.

So every morning and after work I do find myself rooting around under the coffee table for the baubles to put them back on the tree, but I'm no longer having to fully reassemble the tree every day!

Is that the christmas tree itself or the cat up the christmas tree? :D

Just wait until you start putting presents under it...they have a habit of clawing them open too....In essence your christmas tree is the best scratching post/high climber a human could possibly buy a kitten

They are little gits aren't they.....mine has just bashed me on the head until I got up (work nights).....so that she can then have my warm spot on the bed..........:D.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
