Kitten climbing christmas tree

I have a six month old kitten who is obsessed with my xmas tree. He seems to just like to chew the branches(plastic) but I'm worried he's going to start going for the decorations/tinsel. Can anyone recommend a spray or something to put him off. I have tried bribing, but he just goes back once the treats are gone.

Giving him treats is just encouraging him, he associates the tree with food. It's just perseverance, keep removing him, make a sharp hissing noise like a mother cat does to warn her babies off if they're being annoying etc. Or as very much a last resort you could try a deterrent spray like Get Off on the tree but be warned, it stinks !0

Just get him a mini tree of his own to play with, discourage him on the main tree and encourage him to the small one, he will eventually get the message (at least until nobody is looking)/

For it to be kitten-proof....you need to tie your tree to the wall with rope and nails, super glue all decorations on it, you can't use tinsel, and watch out that the fairy lights aren't being chewed....I seem to remember not having lights on for a few years.
Or....you can suspend it from the ceiling.
If you are lucky, by the time kitty is around 9yrs old, this type may have stopped or diminished.
Good luck.
. Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I have to agree with calicocat. My current cat is now elderly, but I vividly remember coming home from work everyday to the tree on the floor. She was an autumn kitten and still very small at the time. She stopped climbing the tree on her third Christmas and by then the tree was only fit for the skip. Now my cat is elderly this is one of my funny memories of her and I am glad she had fun with the tree.0

Sorry we need photos of the kitten and tree to be able to judge what advise to offer!!

Mine use to go up the tree then jump off as it was falling over, so in the end I just put it up and no decorations, it saved the faff of putting them back each time.
By age about 4 kitten now a cat stopped, so re decorated the tree the next year, only to have her playing paddy paws with the lower bubbles while sat on the floor under the tree.
