I have to agree with the majority here.

You really can't stop kitty playing with said tree! :D

By next year, he/she will probably not be interested in it anymore.

For now, I agree that you may need to tie it to the wall somehow, so it doesn't topple over and squash kitty!

Why not move the tree a bit higher, like on a table or something so the kitty cant get to it to start with.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Can you try using a clicker to train your cat to be rewarded when they leave the tree alone? We have done that with our dogs and it worked brilliantly, no idea about a cat though :-)

Apart from keeping an eye/ear out during the day, and shutting him out of that room when no one is home/overnight, not much you can do i'm afraid.
  • Our previous cats LOVED the Christmas tree.
We were never able to have lights on it.

New cats now 10 - never interested.

This thread has now got me thinking about what to do myself xmas tree wise.

I find myself now with an older brand of Asbo-cat. She is 14 ish (lost track of age).

After the last 30 years with cat and a mix of tree 'suspension'...nailed to wall....no lights.....glued on balls....bla bla bla, I now find myself with one older cat that has in the last 3 years not really bothered with the tree.

SO........do I venture into the real xmas tree world..????.....or will she think there is suddenly some kind of catmint world literally growing in her house??

Anyone with an older cat have experience of a real tree out there..?
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
