SF the work you do on these threads is just incredible, cant thank you enough. This will be main thread im on in 2015, the £12k will be emergency fund. £1,700 a month debt payments will see me struggle to hit the £12k but im determinded to do it/get as close to it as possible. There will be some very frugal living from YBM next year anyway, iv started training for it already
2015 will just be the start of a massive wealth plan, and getting going is the hardest part so lets do it.

Hi Maria, welcome to the thread! I think most people here include anything they can add into their savings account between 1st January and 31st December. Good luck with your 2015 savings.Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -
Bogglehead- Im totally in awe of your figures! Congratulations on saving so much this year and best of luck to you for 2015!
I cannot believe it myself either, especially since i had never been saving up until 2years ago when my wife and I found out we were pregnant.
Makes me feel awful about all this cash we wasted before that. We've gone from a lavish and ridiculous lifestyle, to a more frugal and low key lifestyle, where our biggest expense by far is our mortgage and debt repayment!
I set my mind on retiring early to enjoy my family and not be the richest man on the graveyard... And that forum really is a huge motivator. Seeing everybody making efforts to save in order to get a better future for themselves and get satisfaction from frugal and simple pleasures life has to offer, has been an immense inspiration to me!Total Debt

Hey,
First time having a go at this I'm going to aim for £4000 this year; hopefully I can reach that and a bit more.# 047 'Save 12K in 2019' - £6,346.86 / £12,000 55.89%# 074 'Save 12K in 2015' - £4,379.25 / £4,000 109.48%0 -
Good luck to all the newcomers, many come and go but as far as iv seen the core of the thread remains the same, run by the same fantastic person, SF!!!
The race is on like the Ice Road Truckers in the load count, i want to win it be first there and end up the highest!!:eek:Living frugally at 24

I think this is a good point, the thread is always popular at the start of the year and people disappear. There is nothing wrong with lowering your target if you have started off too ambitious. Anything saved in 2015 will be an achievement, so don't think you have to sign up and aim for thousands. Some people aim for much smaller amounts too.0 -
I am aiming to save the whole £12k of my target in an investment portfolio and this is my first foray into stocks and shares via an isa from April 2015. Until April I will be leaving my roughly £1000 per month in our Santander 123 account to earn 3% interest gross. Will others be putting their savings target into a separate account or is paying off debt also counted as savings or savings within accounts already up and running?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. SF thank you so much for organising this. It was such a source of motivation for me in 2014. I would have never saved as much without this thread/forum!
I ended saving twice the amount i originally signed up for, and ended upping my target twice.
Can you please add me to the 2015 challenge and put me down for £75k ?
Hopefully i beat that figure too if i do as well as 2014.
Thanks again
Goodness that is a huge amount! Well done. Can you tell me if you don't mind me being nosey do you actually put that amount of money in a savings account or pay it down off your mortgage which I can see is quite high? Just interested as I wonder which is more beneficial to you. We never had significant savings until our mortgage was paid off but I am not sure if that was just because psychologically we wanted rid of it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
