TFL - Traveling on DLR in London

Let's put the question less obliquely:
If you have a Z1-2 travelcard on Oyster (and some PAYG credit too) and you commence a journey in Z1 and don't touch out when you leave the Z4 station, what happens? Can I help?0 -
You get charged the Oyster maximum fare, currently £8.60 - https://www.tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/oyster/using-oyster/maximum-oyster-fare
If you couldn't touch out for reasons beyond your control you can apply to have the excess refunded via the Oyster online account page.
However you could be prosecuted (potentially for fraud) if the operator realises you are doing this.0 -
That is what I also have been thinking. I think the vast majority of people in possession of Annual seasoncard will have PAYG for Oyster Extension permit to be used for traveling outside their zone.
The advice given by some other people in this thread are misleading and from those who do not understand Annual Travelvard or probably never have an Annual Travelvard. In their mind is just about fare dodger and do not understand that such thing that people forget to get off happen all the time ....
Given that you never mentioned anything about having PAYG credit on the Oyster card (or indeed whether it was an Oyster card) in your original post, or even in your first 4 posts in this thread, why are you surprised that people answered the question as it was asked? Was everyone supposed to guess the missing facts?0 -

Sorry, yes you're right. The maximum Oyster fare only applies if you touch in under PAYG.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -

If you were caught, prosecution under the Regulation of Railways Act, leading to a criminal record and a hefty fine.
Sometimes undercover inspectors stand beyond the gateline and ask to see the tickets/passes of anyone who has not touched out.0 -

You are of course right, but do people really need to be told to touch in?
I guess they do.0 -

I guess they do.
As I mentioned in my earlier post, if you're travelling within the zones on your travelcard and there are no barriers, there's no need to touch in and out. So if your normal routine is not to touch in, but sometimes you travel outside the normal routine, you need to remember.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

I frequently get off London Overground at Walthamstow Queens Rd. In most cases I have no need to touch out as my Oystercard has an annual gold card and I am within my zones. I do touch out if i started my journey in zone 4 and need to pay. There are frequently revenue officers there. When they are present, I usually do touch out just to keep them happy!0

Yes, and apparently they need to be told where to get off too. Does it seem odd to anyone else that with all the effort the OP put into this thread yet they can't make the effort to get off where they are supposed to? It's usually better to treat the cause not the symptoms. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0
