Can you waterproof any trainers or are you re-proofing pairs that were waterproof previously?
These were both fabric or partly fabric and not previously waterproofed - I can't remember the name of the product but it was a spray-on water repellent. Quite pungent so I took them out of doors to spray. I have a separate one for suede and nubuck, I don't know if they are interchangeable. I also don't think it's guaranteed for dunking, but it's definitely helped on rainy days.
Something like this would do the trick https://www.mountainwarehouse.com/spray-on-proofer-275ml-p17349.aspx/one/

MW always reduce their sprays etc in their sale. Haven’t used this one but the wash for restoring waterproof clothes was great.

Thanks for that link @Rosetta92, we have a MW near here so I may just call in.

I've also seen a N4ncy B1rtwhistle video where she uses melted candle to re-waterproof a jacket - I'm not sure it would work so well on shoes but it looked like a viable option on her jacket.

I've woken up feeling like I have a cold today. I have been around a lot of people travelling in and out of London the past week. I called up to book my flu jab at the local pharmacy but they said it is too early at the moment.

I am going to order a foot massager that I read good reviews about. Bob & Brad Lite foot Massager with Heat as I do hate having cold feet in winter. Bob and Brad are physios that had a YT channel and Bob sadly died this year.

    Hi all

I am in need of a plug in heater for my daughters room. Any recommendations - oil filled or panel heater?

Small single bedroom sized room with shockingly bad radiators!

    TIA

Hi @Green Hopeful. Your post made me think about people who still have wooden window frames. I was always under the impression that there are grants for double glazing etc and it was easy to upgrade and change them. That is what I thought anyway.
@ET22  thank you. We have a big house with loads of windows. It would be many thousands to get new windows. Ours are not too bad but we have been naughty about not keeping up with the maintenance. We quite like having wooden windows. Quite a few people are putting them back into older houses. I think if i was worried I would get magnetic secondary glazing to keep the wooden frames.

I understand what you mean. Preserving the character of special older houses is a key consideration. I would keep the wooden windows too

My house is 17 years old & was built with timber window frames. The previous owner did no maintenance & never painted the windows in 11 years. As a result I had to replace the French doors and a bedroom window as the frames were rotting.

I have wooden windows too (and some aluminium ones), and like Floss, they're relatively new so are double glazed. While the wooden ones require more regular maintenance than the aluminium ones, those have their own issues with expanding/contracting depending on temperature. I'm not a fan of uPVC. Contrary to popular opinion it isn't maintenance-free.

It sounds like the wooden ones are well worth it then. I also didn’t realize wooden windows could be double glazed.

Oh yes - Youngest & his wife have recently invested in timber framed triple glazed sash windows for their Victorian house renovation.
