I used to find taking the bobbles off jumpers and cardigans very theraputic and money saving. The local haberdashers used to sell everything you could imagine and some you hadn't imagined. They had a little handheld gadget that removed those bobbles no power required. It's probably still in one of my sewing baskets or boxes. I tend to keep things I may need again..I have seen similar things in Supermarkets hanging next to shelves the limiited range pkts of needles , black or white cotton and sometimes what they call a defuzzer. I don't remember if it had a name when I bought mine. My mum was a constant knitter but I'd never thought to ask the name of the thing she would use to take the bobbles off our jumpers or cardigans.Years ago I began to buy silver scouring pads in Wilko. They were very effective for allsorts but had to be used damp to prevent scratching.Over the years they became known as the scrubby things with most of the family buying them. A few days before the first lockdown I was racing around Wilko grabbing everything I normally bought there. I headed first for the scrubby things. I'd had phone calls and eamils don;t forget the scrubby things mum we've nearly run out.I still have a stash here. They're useful for lots of things even cleaning out plant pots. and good on worktops and cookers, I stopped shopping in town last year but I'm like Scrooge counting his gold when I check how many packs are left. Possibly a years worth or more as there are 3 in each pack.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

London_1 said:I just had my months duel fuel bill in and it was under £40 which I am quite happy about as I a pretty frugal when it comes to electricity, and use it only when needed
I cook with electric ,but use my Remoska and microwave mainly I recently bought an air fryer so that will help even more come the winter. I use my slow cooker quite a bit as well and my DD got me a 1 litre kettle so I only use enough for a cuppa at a time Or if I fill it up I use the residue in a flask for later.I try to be as zero waste as I can
JackieO xx.

My husband had his flu and Covid jabs at the same time but one in the leg and one in the arm so he would have a 'free' side to sleep on. He's felt a bit flu-ey for a day and a half, but it seems to be luck of the draw what side effects we get.
Mine are booked for next week, same day, two different clinics but that was all I could get. I managed to time it just before I have a couple of meetings to lead, but side effects are the lesser of two evils as far as I'm concerned.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

@Cherryfudge I had my covid booster on Saturday, armpit pain and now proper cold symptoms. I'm not sure if it's side effects or a coincidental illness!

I wonder if it depends which covid booster you have what after effects you have. I had one called Spikevax this time and just had a sore arm for a few days. My first 2 were astra zenica and third was pfizer which gave me flu like symptoms. I had both covid and flu jab at the same time this time in the same arm3

My surgery texted and offered me a closer date for my jab so I'm booked in for Saturday.
In other news. I am not having my luck with my brushed cotton sheets.
I brought one set from Damart cost £29. Been on the bed for a week and my bed is full of pilling. So sent an email to the company asking what I'm suppose to do. (.never had it this bad on previous brushed cotton )
2nd set ebay. £15 for a flat sheet... unwrapped and spread it out to find what looks like a bug died in the pressing machine.. so sent them a message too .
Will have to see what happens .today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Have today received our online order for a two-pack of those headband LED torches as part of our potential winter power cut preparations. One of us is quite disabled so they look as if they would be very useful for anything where you need both hands free. The light level is adjustable, and there,s a downward adjustable position for reading.
