it’s now got a small window I can leave open and a big window which is shut but I can still fit out of if there’s a fire.
It does sound odd doesn't it but I was told this twice.
Perhaps I should give them another call just to make absolutely certain.
They replaced all the windows at the front of the house and the door (previous occupants only double glazed one side of the house) and did a good job so I do trust them7 -
Could you get a child lock for the window when it's opened sideways? I'm sure I've seen some that allow the window to be open a couple of inches at the widest part, but won't open fully.2025 Fashion on the ration

Scrimps, call your local Council's building control team - they should be able to give you a definitive answer on this, and probably quote any relevant legislation too!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Good afternoon , This year it's time to get serious about winter in our house. I havent been on top of things for a while and now I'm hoping to get going on it. I have started to accumulate fabric for window quilts, there was an old thread about it a long time ago. I did one in our old house and it worked wonders, so I thought I would bring them up on here again for ideas for other people. Also the other day , we found a thermos carafe in home bargains for £12.99. Great for pots of coffee, saves boiling the kettle and zapping in the microwave.7

First taste of the autumn this afternoon, like a new born baby wet'n'windy
. Just put a pair of wooly socks on. First time since June I have anything more than sandals on. Here in the South-East it doesn't get too cold, apart from perhaps Jan-Feb but the damp tends to get into my bones as I have ostero-arthritis and my joints sound like a creaky old gate that needs oiling
But I got a throw out of the wooden chest in my sitting room, and I'm sitting here with a cuppa looking at the rain lashing the windows, jolly glad I don't have to be out in it. Certainly not cold enough to put the heating on, I try to hold off until mid-October if I can.
But we have had a good summer, so a bit of rain will be good for the gardens, my lawn has 'greened' up already.
Only 102 days until Christmas !!! it will soon fly by
Keep warm chums

The Belgian government has asked everyone and every company to cap the heating at 19C. At home, we already have it capped at 17.5C or 18C, at work it's so warm that there's no need to cap, because that would mean actually blow cold air into the office. It's now a comfortable 23, with the air blowing neutral (neither the cold light nor the hot light are showing).

@maddrivingmamma your note of a window quilt sounds interesting, what is it and how does it look please. We do have heavy and lined curtains that would have been out of our budget at full price but were purchased through a charity supporting supplying cost effective school uniforms a number of years ago. They are dry clean only and do need to get cleaned and the cost is on the weight. We will be changing the oversized window next year so they will have to make do with a hoover and then I can alter them accordingly and be able to afford to get them cleaned
Our living room window currently measures 10ft x 7ft in our bungalow and is east facing which is great for the summer but definitely not for winter
We have a log burner fire which throws out terrific heat considering its a 5KW and can heat the whole place comfortably.
I have chosen to move to dresses during the year in a style I have always loved, recently purchased some full- length slips to assist my layering without bulk, this also saves on washing.

I'm looking at the same one @Uniscots97, although I think the large one is now down to £120. I just don't know if the functions like dehydrator are any good though, so just keep thinking about it!Live the good life where you have been planted.
