My DH uses a CPAP machine at night as he has severe sleep apnoea and as such we are on the essential users list but because he has a very good understanding of electrics he's actually made a battery box up that can power his CPAP machine (for around 5 nights), its a relief to have the back up because if he wasn't able to use it, he'd either be dead from lack of oxygen or smothering due to the level of snoring (said in jest....maybe)

My father in law had an electric recliner chair and fell asleep in it one afternoon. He woke up to find there had been a power cut and his chair wouldn’t work. He was unable to get out of it under his own steam. Fortunately he wasn’t stuck for too longIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!8

Thank for all the suggestions I have meds I have to take every morning but as I also take a bottle of cold water up to bed with me for a drink during the night I think I will keep some upstairs this winter 'just in case'
My sofa can turn into a double bed as its got one built inside it so I may keep a pillow and a single duvet downstairs as well. in case it goes off, or better still I have just thought I have a single sleeping bag I can zip into if needed

One day, turn the main fuse off to your house, then ask them to go up and down in the stairlift until it stops working, You; then know for sure how long it lasts after a power cut.11 -
Why dont you ask a more mobile friend/relative to test it for you?
