It's a candle holder. The wire is my phone charger.
Hehe sorry to confuse.
The stray cat has had an owner come forward. Had to read it on fb, no one told me. I'll go tomorrow to collect my cat basket and neuter voucher back. Fed him 3 times a day for 6 months, bought him a waterproof bed, de flead him monthly and made him a shelter and not even a word to me about it.14 -
I'm so sorry Fiona that is poor show. Well done for helping the moggy though9

@Fiona236 don't forget that cats choose their home...this one obviously feels more at home with you. And !!!!!! why has the "owner" not had him microchipped? 🙄2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

You kept him going Fiona and showed him love . Some people are sadly lacking in manners I'm afraid.Didn't they have him chipped?pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.8 -
Fiona - that seems rather a sad end to the story, but who knows. The cat may yet decide he preferred life with you to his real owner who didn't even bother to have him microchipped. Cats have minds of their own. He may in fact decide to make his way back to you again!9

Oh, Fiona, that's very sad. If the owners have been looking for him all this time, why haven't there been posters around and messages on local FB groups? That's what I did the two times my cats went walkabout. And why isn't he already neutered? Still, I guess at least he had you taking care of him when he did go walkabout, and has a loving home that has been looking for him so he should be okay. Very poor show of the vets not to let you know personally though. I would call up and give them a piece of your mind. And I expect the original owners would want to thank you personally as well.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Thanks for your kind words. I rang them up and they said a woman who lives close by said he was staying a couple of days and going missing for a month for months , she described cuts in his ears which he got in May because I tended to them. She said he might still show up at mine as she lives close by ... I said I hope it's not the cat hoarder round the corner, gets cats and never neuters them or looks after them ... so this story rang true.
Story number 2 off some one else at the vets, the cat went missing a long time ago and the woman was relieved to get him back. I got told off for feeding him !
I said I believe the first story and that he was never her cat, spent more time in my garden, was dirty, smellt, full of fleas and starving. Had 3 meals a day here and was deflead monthly with advantage. I then said again I hope you havnt given him back to the hoarder known to all the rescues, and her reply was she thinks it can't be that woman as she obviously had love for the cat and had photos. Not that it can't be cos she lived in a different street. Her only proof was he had cuts in his ear, that I tended to, and she had photos of him.
They talked to her of the importance to get the cat neutered and chipped.
So I mentioned about the many posts and photos on fb , first story was she didn't see them, second story was she wasn't on fb yet she saw the post on fb from vets?. So its all very suspicious to me.
There was no thank you from the owner either.
The vets were snotty talking down to me. I used to be a fund raiser for the cats protection so it's not like I don't care about cats.
Yeh I think he will be back, watch this space. I really loved him and I think he preferred our garden to her house. So on that note I will really winterise his shelter
If he's from where I think its literally 3 or 4 minutes walk away round the corner. And he turned up with another black cat, same large head that was ill with fluey eyes and low heart rate, not neutered or chipped. She didn't mention this other cat that went to the pdsa in May as a stray.
You know when you just feel deflated?11 -
Fiona, if that cat decides to come back to you then get him registered with a different vet, chipped and neutered. And put a collar on with a name tag showing he's your cat. The so-called owner doesn't deserve any consideration or sympathy. One life - your life - live it!10

I've found the owner and yes lots of cats none neutered. Found lost posts on fb for another of her cats that goes missing constantly. The cat I rescued is an outdoor cat that didn't turn up for food ,now to me that's not a pet. She's been told for a year to get her cats neutered and never does and here's the thing, she lives in my street ! He chose to move here in the same street so he's bound to come back. I rang the vets and said I hope you know that cat was just an outdoor cat and none of her cats are neutered and constantly go missing? So shes had this one neutered and chipped but is he still going to live outside? I wish I'd said he was my cat now.
Anyway ive informed the local shelter woman to be on guard.10 -
Oh poor cat, he would be loads better off with you. My 'not my cat' is in for a shock next week as I'm looking after dds puppy whilst they are away for a few days, I will have to feed him in the front garden I think!
