Henri d’vac is my Henry brand vacuum cleaner. Nursie is a figment of my fevered imagination. Picture the love child of Ghengis Khan and Nurse Gladys Emmanuel. Cannot for the life of me remember how or why Nursie, or even when, Nursie hove into creation, but she quickly took on a terrible life force of her own.

Bit like a hurricane. Several old stylers have had fun with Nursie over the years, she was last seen Down Under, terrorising SoftStuff. I changed the locks, my name and no longer answer the door, so she may not be able to make it back home.

Henri has almost recovered his composure....😜

Fear not, madam, for I am here. I just nipped in for a minute before resuming today's marathon damson-stoning (or whatever the technical term is) session, to which I must return RSN.  Before we knocked off I was in the lead averaging a steady 7 a minute, but I fear that The Lady Wife may well put on a spurt when we resume and beat that ...

Now, Si Clist, don't go and waste those useful damson stones. Drill a hole in each one, thread them onto several 2-metre lengths of string, tie to a bit of broom handle and voila! Your own home made fly screen to go over the back door on those hot summer days.

Oh what a grand suggestion!  If ever the day dawns when I have nothing better to do, I shall be sure to consider that.  Talking of flies, has anyone else found that the wasps were late starting to be a nuisance this year?

Not a big fan of wasps, me, ever since My Traumatic Experience with the one who ... ahem ... settled on me when I was multi-tasking a few years ago down the bottom of the garden, admiring the sweet peas  whilst having a piddle ...

They were slow to turn up, and I think have nested late. Did a great job of dealing with the bugs in the garden. However, I now have an issue as I have a large colony in the attic, and while I like wasps, it looks as if the nest is causing damp as there are a couple of marks on the plasterboard in the corner of the bedroom - ceiling and top of wall. I could do with them disappearing soon, as it's probably a huge nest and I have bats in the attic - both of which will make it difficult to deal with! I don't want to have to destroy them (although it's likely only to be part of the colony that gets exterminated due to the assumed size of the nest. Any suggestions as to how to use mind control to persuade them to leave would be much appreciated. I'm not going to go into the attic or up on the roof to annoy them...

Bank holiday weekend can always be relied on to give you and early taste of winter!!  15C here in London suburbs and with quite a spiteful breeze.
