The animals have a vast stock of all they need as of today. I will do the same next month and that will see them through the winter.6

OH has gone to purchase a chain saw and some builders tubs today (
). we have access to free wood for the as yet uninstalled wood burner but need to get it home (plus we have a large tree that we took down which needs cutting up and storing). OH plus a chainsaw is a worrying prospect as he can be a bit gung-ho regardless that he was a health and safety executive.

boazu said:I had a bag of chapatti flour that had been missed in the store cupboard that was 3 years past it's best before date but was OK when opened and I've just used the last of it. I've made yeasted bread, soda bread, crumble toppings, pastry, scones, cakes and biscuits with it and all of them have been fine and looked and tasted perfectly normal. It makes good dumplings for stews too. Chapatti flour is definitely a 'find' and something I'll not be without again.

I am really cross with myself, after reading a post by Pip I found Chapatti flour at Tesco and faffed about putting some on my order for tomorrow while I checked if I could find space for it (difficult!), now they don't have any in stock, lesson for the future I think
How do I do that notification thing @xxxxxx please. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)6 -

Oil has been delivered so tank totally full now 🙌 He couldn't fit the whole order in though so I should be getting a refund on the rest - I thought we had a 2000 litre tank - apparently it's only 1800! 😂
Lots of herbs frozen in oil yesterday - think I have enough done for now as the purple basil is coming on very well and I'll have more coriander to do in a couple of weeks - next on the list is mint in lime juice for my mojitos! 😉
The guy who came yesterday to look at the flat roof gave us a good quote so I've told him to do the work- he's getting back to me later today to give me a date as he needs to check the delivery dates for the materials - hopefully it will be sorted by the end of August then I am avoiding tradesmen like the plague for at least 18 months unless it's unavoidable!

Squirrelgirl I just had my flat roof done too and got him to put in extra insulation while he was at it, could be an option for you as well? This was last week so haven’t seen it in action yet but I’m hoping it will make a difference over winter 😊
Winter duvet washed and currently out on the line but the naff polyester outer has ripped so won’t be cramming it in the machine again 😕 will take to the laundrette next time and/or invest in one that’s a bit sturdier. Bought myself a new pillow and a 500 thread count fitted sheet recently and they have both been sooo worth it 😍
I might have also put some wine (on offer) in my Sainsbugs order this week to put away until a certain day in December...Original mortgage free date: November 2044Current mortgage free date: November 2038Chipping away...6 -
We went to visit our daughter yesterday and she'd baked a bread mx loaf, one from Asda and it was some of the nicest bread we've had for ages. I'm going to get some bread mixes in to my store because at 69p for 500grams and it made a medium sized loaf it's a useful thing to have in during bad weather. DD gave me a mix to bring home and it's good to the end of next year so they've a reasonable use by date as well.5
