Preparing for Winter V

I have quite a few daylight bulbs around the house and find them very helpful (although I find I do leave the lights on by mistake as you tend to forget that they are on due to the light feeling more natural).0

Definitely into the colder weather now - I've just filled the stone pig for the first time since the last cold months ended in March!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

Seriously considering a small smart TV for the bedroom now. The one downstairs has been such a hit, even for a very modest viewer like me, and I would rather be tucked up in my bed watching an interesting Youtube feature than shivering downstairs. I have three slow cookers filled with apples and several trays in the dehydrator too. I won't be short of fruit over the winter!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

And the garage and the sitting room! I have spread them all around as I ran out of space! I always hate to see the wasted fruit lying on lawns and then thrown away. This year I asked if I could have unwanted apples and the response has been amazing. Next year I may graduate into pears as well!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Definitely felt the chill as I was walking to the car after work today. The temp has dropped in S.Yorks!
Weather app is showing the temp as 6c currently but feels like 3c, & early morning as 2c but feels like -2c.
The heating had been on when I got in, & I turned the thermostat up for 30mins to give it a bit of a boost before bed.
Have to say, the house feels warm inside, & I'm still toasty under the summer duvet/over blanket combo.
I think on Sunday the winter duvet will be coming back out as the cold hits.0 -

I almost wish our bedroom TV would pack up so we had an excuse to buy a small smart bedroom TV and watch interesting You Tube stuff or whatever. These days I find myself increasingly opting for early nights snuggled under the duvet in winter . No dozing off with a crooked neck on the sofa getting chilly - just press a button and you're already washed, undressed and ready to sleep ! Luxury!0 -

If you have a bed with a bedstead at the foot, look for an old iMac on eBay - my Dad gave us his old one to sell and keep the money after we sorted out his new set-up, and we found we'd only get about 20 quid at most so didn't bother... we were about to take it to the tip, regretfully as it still functioned, just very elderly - and then discovered the fancy designer stand hooks perfectly over the foot of the bed
DVD-player, internet-screen and live-stream-tv...
It is now getting a bit pernickety, as it's a very old operating system and some tv stations ie 5-on-demand wont't play on it - but then we discovered "mirroring" which is a simple bit of software meaning the iMac's big screen will show whatever we line up on a secondary-screen my laptop - I can then continue using my laptop's normal screen if I want, but can also control the iMac's screen from it2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
