Preparing for Winter V

That,s an ambitious list and has reminded me of some jobs for my list too. I always hate it when the garden furniture goes away and the outside tap is turned off. It really feels I,m closing down on summer so always try to leave it until as late as I dare in case we have a late burst of warm weather I can take advantage off0

I started collecting elderberries today which will be made into a large batch of winter cold remedy. I have to keep reminding myself it is still summer. One life - your life - live it!0

Is anybody else getting all "nesty"? A couple of days recently I have "smelled" autumn on it's way and need to start snuggling down.0

Today has felt distinctly autumnal now and I hate the speedy way in which the nights are drawing in. I'm not much of a tv watcher and once it's dark outside and the curtains are drawn I could quite happily take myself up to bed, snuggle under the duvet and let my thoughts take me where they will!0

I have noticed the change in light quality in the last few days. Yes, it has been cloudy often, but when it is sunny and clear it is more like an autumnal aura. Are the elderberries ready already? I will have to pick and dehydrate a few, as there is little room in my freezers. I bought a litre of cheap gin in Spain a couple of weeks ago so hope some sloes come my way. Tonight there is a full moon, clear sky and the greenhouse low temp yesterday was 9C. There is a definite nip in the air now but whilst August has always been an autumn month in Scotland, south of the border it's not normally until late September that it feels like this. Hi guys
It’s still not particularly cold here, but I really fancied porridge for breakfast. Yummy. It’s been too hot until now.
We’ve had a couple of mornings where it’s felt autumny but basically it’s just changeable. But here on the Fylde coast the weather changes with the tides so it’s an idea always to have a jacket or brolly near to hand.
Ive started another crochet blanket ( they don’t last because they find their way to my sons houses so I only ever seem to have a couple then when they get washed out or too scruffy I unravel and reuse the decent yarn)
I hope everyone is keeping well.
Have a good bank hol guys

I just love this thread and although I don't post very often, I do read every post.
Today, I have taken the winter duvets to be cleaned, so they are ready to be swapped with the summer ones in a few weeks.
I've also spent the afternoon packing away summer clothes and getting the Autumn / winter ones out....only to be informed by OH it's going to be an Indian Summer and very hot again in Sptember .Well Behaved women seldom make history

Up here August is end of summer/start of autumn. Dark at 8pm the last few dull days and down to 13c . Forecast mentions ground frost coming soon. I'm in knitting mode lol0

It's much cooler here in the Midlands today, I've got jeans and a sweatshirt on for the first time in months. I love 'seasons' and look forward to winter and then Spring every year, although summer has been a little to hot for me this year.Well Behaved women seldom make history
