    I had no idea about Kittie.

    I have the sweep booked on 20th September. He will do our two multi fuel burners for about £70...a really good deal.

    I need to order some more wood and a few bags of coal but apart from that am fairly together. We have a complete glass gable end so will put some fleeces up at the doors just for a bit of added warmth.

    Im on soup making duties at the moment but soon get through it when we start eating it

    Does anyone have any recommendations for winter/thermal tights?

    Last year home bargains had some warm ones with like a fleece lining? They didn't last as long as my marks and spencer ones but were really warm.
    Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.
  • Primark did brilliant fleece lined tights last year. Really cosy and soft.

    Fuddle, around November last year Lidl sold thermal leggings and tights in their Aisle Of Surprises. They were about £3 a pair, IIRC. I bought several pairs and wore them under my trousers to work. (I was working in a portacabin in the middle of a field). They held up well to the use/abuse of regular washing.

    Most of the time, they were very warm, until I got caught in a cold wind. The wind just stripped away the heat and they felt icy-cold, leg-achingly cold. I wore them to a football match under my jeans instead of my usual silk long-johns and the same thing happened, so don’t wear them if you’re going hiking or to a footy match.

    If I end up back in that portacabin, then I’ll definitely wear them this winter.

    2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge 66 coupons - 39.5 spent.

    4 - Thermal Socks from L!dl
    4 - 1 pair "combinations" (Merino wool thermal top & leggings)
    6 - Ukraine Forever Tartan Ruana wrap
    22 - yarn
    1.5 - sports bra
    2 - leather wallet
  • I have several pairs of Primark's thick winter tights - I'm a Uk size 18-20 and Primark's largest size of tights don't go up my legs past about 3-4 inches above my knees, which makes me feel ever-so-good about myself, NOT.

    Anyway, I cut the tights off at the crotch, horizontally, because the legs will actually fit my legs, it's the waistband that won't go up my enormous gigantic thighs - so I wear the cut-off legs as winter stockings :)

    But be wary of their sizes. Their Size-18 trousers fit me - but not their largest sizes of tights...
    2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:
    January (29): winter boots, green trainers, canvas swimming-shoes (15); t-shirt x2 (8); 3m cotton twill (6);
    .
    2025 second-hand acquisitions (no coupons): None thus far
    .
    2025 needlework- *Reverse-couponing*:11 coupons :
    January: teddybear-lined velvet jacket (11) & hat (0); velvet sleep-mask (0);
  • Have ordered some snag tights on recommendation, sized by height and dress size to actually fit. They don't do thermal yet, but if they can do a pair that don't make me curse and hitch at them all day I'll be happy.

    Yesterday I received our order of logs, and have stacked them all neatly by the side of the house. Electric blanket and throw is on the bed, too, and I've started lighting smelly candles in the evening.

    My next big mission is CURTAINS. Going to give myself a month to try and hunt some down in charity shops. Otherwise, I'll order some seconds fabric direct from the warehouse that supplies John Lewis. Will be happy, either way.

    Hi guys
    It’s warm here but all the little birds are starting to arrive ready to move to warmer climbs. Also the illuminations start this weekend which heralds the move to autumn. I really like autumn, but I do get fed up with winter. I like the run up to Xmas but after that I count the days to spring. We try to have a warm hol in the spring to break up winter but I don’t think finances will allow this year.
    I tend the buy my wooly tights from M and S , not cheap but they last for years. The same with jumpers and cardigans (which I watch for in the sales)
    I decided when I did my weekly shop that I’ve had enough salad for this year and it’s time to move onto more casserole type meals. Yummy.
    I hope everyone is ok and getting organised
