I want snow, I love snow but I don't want the power cuts. It's just miserable wet weather here. A bit like me today. Ha ha.0

Snowing again now but very fine light stuff. Up north the snowgates are closed everywhere. The ski centres will be happy.0

Can anyone advise me on condensation on the windows during winter. On a morning the windows are soaked and im worried the house will get damp. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening or reduce it t least. It's worse in the bedrooms, our room has us and the baby in with a big bay window and then my daughters room. We can't afford the heating on loads and I open the windows to air the house as muh as I can but I don't know how to tackle this?Living the simple life0

I use the Karcher window vac. Takes a minute and is very effective.0

I have this trouble in both bedrooms. I can't understand why, I have lived here for 11 years and never had damp. one for the last 4 years I have condensation in both bedrooms and black mould on walls and the window seals are stained. I just don't no what to try next. The windows are left open slightly all the time. I don't get it in kitchen, hall or lounge.
Any one any ideas I can try.........please.0 -
I've noticed the 2 windows in the main bedroom being covered in condensation in the mornings. I think I'll try some of the moisture catchers you can pick up for £1. I always keep one in my husbands wardrobe, it's really surprising how much water it collects. His wardrobe is built in, in the corner of the house, link detached so 2 outside walls.0

I'd be interested in any tips to help eliminate this problem but meanwhile I've found that one of these: http://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/microfibre-multi-purpose-mop-251567 is extremely useful for clearing the windows, especially in the bathroom, where I'd have to climb in the bath to reach it with a cloth.;):)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I read somewhere that you can make good moisture catchers from old socks filled with silica cat litter. When 'full', they can be dried out in the microwave.
I've remembered this was on a motoring forum and useful to stop car windows misting over inside.0 -
I needed to add an extra layer to my bed last night - woollen blanket. I'm starting to feel like the princess and the pea :-D! Flannelette sheets under & over, woollen blanket, thick duvet, double sided throw from Edinburgh W00l m1ll that's fake fur on one side & purple acrylic on the other. Still to add - the summer duvet, various fleece blankets...
The boys duvet sets are more recently bought than mine, & came with snaps in each corner for fixing the light & heavier duvets together for cold weather. Mine is ten years old & a cheap set from Arg0s at the time, & doesn't. So I stitched snaps in each corner.0 -
I find cheap acrylic synthetic stuff a total waste of time now. I only buy cotton or wool and find it's much warmer that way. And good things last longer so you only buy them once. I had to start buying natural fabrics as I get itchy now with anything else - but am finding it much better, warmer and more comfy.0
