Apart from, say, parking on school crossing markings or on a bus stop/tramway/red route (clearly marked), there isn't a line where people need fining, IMHO. Councils cross it far more often than motorists do!

CERTAINLY box junctions are a well known cash cow and fines there are, 99% of the time, nothing about bad driving/obstructing the highway, box junction PCNs are notorious and all about catching people out.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So all the idiots I see everyday, causing problems and delays for those that can follow the rules, should be allowed to just get on with it? I've even had one who sat right in the middle of a box junction, look round and stick his middle finger up to both queues of traffic he was blocking at the junction. No-one said anything to him to provoke it, he just decided f*** everyone else and was damn sure he was going to make it known.

Maybe I just have an overblown hatred of box junction blockers because of this!

I have never seen anyone do that but can understand your wrath! I have only seen people whose wheels are encroaching and causing no other car any problem!

I can understand a fine being unreasonable if only a portion of the car is in the box and not actually causing an obstruction. Perhaps they need to reduce the size of the painted boxes to allow for this? Although I'm sure they wouldn't even consider it.

If it helps reduce council tax or pay for some services I am happy to see others making their "voluntary" contribution.

Yellow box junctions are pretty visible.

I just wonder where the line is between deserved and undeserved fines.
    Good question.

But I think as a MoneySaving website it is a question outside of our remit.

But I do concede that not all box junction fines are fair.

If it is a council ticket, one persons cost is another group of peoples savings.

It's an open forum. You're free (within the rules, I guess!) to do that.
I always liken asking on a forum to asking at the bar in the pub. You'll get all sorts of answers. Some helpful, some not. Some friendly, some rude. Some truthful, some garbage.
If you post I think you have to expect some people might not agree with you.

But personally in those circumstances I try to keep quiet.
