I am sure there are plenty of people who would be prepared to "share" their pony in return of course for some of the mucking out type of jobs.
There was a piece on TV a few nights ago about the sharing economy where people share dogs, accomodation etc.
There are so many shares available ATM its incredible. Many ask for a financial contribution, some don't.0 -
I have only one sense of loss. I miss having a horse or pony. I find them hugely therapeutic and nothing else has replaced that relationship for me. I compensate by that by routing my walks around places there are horses and maybe one day it will be possible. However I feel no sense of deprivation. I am one of the privileged who has been able to enjoy ponies at some stage of my life.
I volunteer at a nearby Riding for the Disabled centre which is really rewarding and means I get to have some four-legged friends and go home with a lovely horsey smell once a week. You can find your local group here: http://www.rda.org.uk/rda-groups/ I live in London and was surprised at how many city farms there were near me. They'll definitely appreciate experienced help. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
4.5k for bifold doors is a bit of a bargain tbh although it depends how wide they are - ours have 5 sections and were more than that.
And you'd get equally little sympathy if after admitting that you started saying it wasn't fair that even though you work hard, and scrimp on clothes that things were tight
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...0 -
I find it near impossible to have sympathy for anybody who has spent beyond there means.
I bought a house and just did things one room at a time once we had the money, its not rocket science!
As it is the next is the stairs/landing to which I am fitting LEDs into the bannister which come on when somebody passes by the top or bottom, costing me less than £25 in parts will just be a bit or work.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

I do have begrudging admiration for the Daily Wail. They rile their target audience with exquisite precision. I'm pretty certain they created that Katie Hopkins creature in their basement lab. They are an EYESORES!!!!0

'normal' homeowners will find themselves in if prices continue to rise. Your house goes up in price regardless of your income, so its quite likely you could be in an expensive house and be skint....
Yes, she has been in the house for 8 months, so caught totally by surprise that it is suddenly worth over a million. It could have happened to anyone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Have you ever seen Katie Hopkins and the Lernaean Hydra together in the same place at the same time...? No, me neither.
I suspect that the Daily Mail is probably the main cause of high blood pressure among the middle-aged upper middle classes. I lost any respect for it long ago (though it's still better than the risible Daily Express). Quite sturdy for lining the cats' berths in my local veterinary hospital though.

I wouldn't have said the DM was an upper middle class paper. The people I know that I think of as upper middle read the Times, Torygraph, Indy or Grauniad. I think of the DM as read mostly by people who are not terribly well educated but whose sense of identity is firmly based in working for a living and resenting "benefits as a lifestyle choice". That seems to me to be the demographic most of its articles aim to appeal to.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Likewise, how was she to realise that she'd spend a wodge of her cash on doing up the house, only to find herself with a number of small mouths to feed?

Wiki has some stats on the DM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daily_MailBetween July and December 2013 it had an average daily readership of approximately 3.951 million, of whom approximately 2.503 million were in the ABC1 demographic and 1.448 million in the C2DE demographic.
ABC1 and C2DE are "taken to equate to middle class and working class respectively" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NRS_social_grade0
