Is it really worth it to have sleepless nights etc....
My suggestion is that she joins this forum and gets some tips.....0 -
Another quoteIt just doesn't seem fair that hard working people should be condemned to penny-pinching thanks a toxic storm of sky-rocketing house prices, rising living costs and stagnating wages
Silly me I just thought it wasnt fair that millions of people in this world dont even have the basics and suffer and die through lack of food , basic healthcare and war

Cannot both be unfair? I think so. After all, by the latter measure almost no one in uk has any right to complain about anything. Where we cannot provide we have a fair safety net most often. Yet, I think there are times most people have felt life is not fair.....because its not. Most of us deal with it by continuing on and making changes where we can politically. If you are going to say 'its not fair' where better to do so than the media. Whether people agree or not the woman has the right to an opinion.0 -

The Mail's circulation figures suggest that it knows very well what appeals to its readership. People all over the country are rather enjoying thinking or saying criticisms of this woman rather like the ones on this thread. Some of them are paying for the privilege by buying the paper; others are clicking on the web page and generating advertising revenue for the Mail. In order to provide fodder for this kind of entertainment, she has been paid by the Mail to allow herself to be held up to ridicule. She needs the money and will never meet most of the people who are currently despising her, and they'll have forgotten her in a week or two, so I hope she thinks it's worth it.
My priorities are different. I wouldn't spend money on many of the things she has spent hers on, but I'd have to be literally starving in a gutter before I'd consent to be the subject of an article like that.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

But then, you also wouldn't speak about her the way some are, regardless how different your opinion is from hers, how different your priorities. I feel confident in that.
Edited for correction!0 -

I agree. To me they seem cold and hard and unwelcoming. But I'm with lostinrates in accepting that many people like them.
It's strange: I'm quite happy living in a 1960s house, and have no particular desire for a "character" house, but I do like "character" furnishing and fittings and am generally not interested in "new build" kitchens and furniture.lostinrates wrote: »But then, you also would speak about her the way some are, regardless how different your opinion is from hers, how different your priorities. Journos who write about their home lives irritate me when they also include photos of their little children. They don't generally get to have a say as mummy writes these "my lifestyle" articles for all and sundry to pick over. I wonder if they've been subjected to teasing at school because their parents are "so poor"...?
Being on the breadline, to me, means only just being able to afford basic food and a bit of heating - not scratting around for change to buy a Starbucks latte...0
