that said the op does have my sympathy, unlike england there are no fundementals driving up prices here except lose bank credit. there is no shortage of space to build on and at best the population is static thanks to immigration, if you overpaid at the top of a bubble here you better like the place cause its going to take a while to recover.0 -

As TwoPints said earlier, we haven't had much of queue to pay the builders more money when prices go up- kinda destroys the "we're not buying the place as an investment" argument doesn't it?0 -

A daft reply on an even dafter thread. The house is second hand, it's been used, the OP bought it 6 months ago off plan and now gets cold feet - totally different to taking back an unopened pack of washing powder the next day.0 -

There seem to be an ever increasing number of stupid questions asked on MSE forums. Someone on the Travel Forum was complaining they couldn't get their money back from a Flight booked on Expedia. Reason? They made a mistake and booked a flight from Birmingham, Alabama instead of Birmingham England!:rotfl: Why? Because it was cheap! No such thing as a stupid question? I don't think so!0 -

some of our pals have resisted warnings & gone ahead with a 200k purchase of a new build from plans in a very dodgy area. Surrounded by factories & council estates in the North of England. They've signed the deal & are still moving, even though only about 50% of the places have gone.
We've bought a similar size place in terms of sq metres in a far nicer place about 1 mile up the road for 120k but it's terraced & they're insisting on a detatched. By detached I mean a 30cm gap between houses...
If a crash comes it won't evenly wipe a certain % off every property. Nice houses in nice places might suffer but they'll pale into insignificance compared to virtual prefabs on brownfield sites.0 -

Negative equity is not a massive concern. Its a home I've bought not an investment. I probably have been slightly naive but we saw the house and loved it and saw it as our home The houses were a certain price, I just expected a level playing field. Others may think its a stupid question but I felt it was legitimate.The answer seems to be no we cant do anything.
The reason why I referred to the builder as being greedy was that I was told by the (now-ex) site agent that the prices were suddenly increased before the launch by the builder. If you met him you would know what I meant.
Thanks for the heads up on that dispatches program but I'm happy enough with the quality.0
