Nice to see a positive conclusion to your story. Try and see the positive side of a delay actually moving as it will give you a bit more time to plan and pack etc. I imagine moving near to Christmas will be stressful with kids and a new baby but at least you now know where you are. My gut feeling with your story is your buyers were delaying as they are not going to let until january and they didn't want to be paying out too early for a house that would be empty for a while (shame they didn't tell you that back in August!!)
Anyway enjoy your chocolate and good luck with your new baby (who will obviously be more important that any of this rubbish and will soon make you forget these annoying delays)0 -
Getting exchanged is by far the biggest hurdle. We had to have two months from exchange to completion for various reasons which was annoying, but you can almost breathe easy now. Problems after exchange are exceptionally rare. As soon as you're in, the delay will be forgotten.0

Sounds to me that they have money in a term account that will produce a bonus when it matures and that's the date they've been working towards without telling you about it.
