Why bother having lines at all then? Of course it inconveniences others. It means the person who parks next to you will find it difficult to get in or out of the door beside your badly parked car. Particularly unfair if it is an elderly person or young child.

But sure, why would you care? You saved a couple of seconds by not bothering to park properly. That's what's really important.

Edit: Just noticed you said at the end of a row. So you reduce the traffic flow of the car park? Point still remains the same.

Just back from my local supermarket where I parked over a line.

Deliberately as in doing so it allowed more room for me and the car adjacent.

There was no inconvenience, no spaces blocked or lost.

Over a line, considerately and unselfishly - easily done.:D

Oh and no PPC person inconvenienced either as there is no PPC used to patrol this particular car park.
  • Maybe if they actually made parking bays big enough to fit a modern family car there would be no issues of "going over the line".... We don't all drive Fiat Uno's or Ford Ka's for goodness sake....
Ever tried parking a Ford Mondeo in Victoria Square..... Never mind the atrocious colours they are painted, it's a !!!!!!!g nightmare parking in it... the spaces are tight to say the least...

Lol. Victoria Square must be the most ridiculously painted car park ever.

I parked in Disabled Bay for a few minutes. Although I do have a blue badge I forgot to display it. I arrived just as attendant posted invoice to windscreen. I showed him my blue badge and he said that was okay and just to send copy of badge to ukpc. I did this and a week later they wrote to say that as a good will gesture they were willing to reduce charge from the original £50 to £15 as long as I pay within 14 days. I am still condidering if I will pay or not. One thing that is putting me off is that in order to make payment by debit or credit card there is an additional £1.50 charge. Another fine?

People who can't/won't park correctly are bad drivers
& should not have a drivers licence
Be good to the young on their way up you might need them on your way down.

And companies that exist just to profit off other people's mistakes are bad companies and should not be permitted to trade...

As others have said this is not a "fine". It is a claim for liquidated damages under the law of contract.

It seems to me a very a heavy-handed way of making sure that people use the car parks properly. It is a pity they could not do it in another way.

I remember in Dublin years ago a couple of us went to a meeting in that fair city and parked in a small car park just outside the offices we were visiting. We just assumed that it was a car park owned by the business we were visiting. It was actually owned by another business nearby. When we came out of the meeting, we had not received a ticket, but instead someone had written in large writing in lipstick on the windscreen, in essence, that it was a private car park and we had no right to be there and a few rude words as well. I would like to say that we saw the funny side but it was more embarrassing than funny. The car park was close to the street and there were more than a few smiles from passers bye as they watched us remove the offending bright red sticky substance making sure not to get any of it on our clothing - at least the guy I was with was making sure it did not get on his clothing as he was married!
