UKPC Parking Fine

That's what is known as a straw man argument. I never argued that people shouldn't park properly. I argued that private companies shouldn't be able to administer charges masquerading as fines with the sole aim of making a profit. The legislation, as it stands, prevents them from doing this.

Well Mr Straw Man, if you read back through things I never argued that private companies should be allowed to administer charges, I merely said people shouldn't park selfishly nor inconsiderately and those that do would be deserving of a fine.

There is also no indication that the OP parked selfishly or inconsiderately at this stage.

So you are saying private companies should or should not be able to "fine" drivers?

Nope, but saverbuyer admitted he did.

Nor did I suggest nor imply the OP did. I was merely stating an opinion.

Yes, if they authorised to do so and are properly regulated.

They aren't currently on either count.

No such admission. Re-read the post.

That's irrelevant. Nobody said they were.

    Yes, he did.

Don't worry about it. I've been receiving letter from UKPC for about 18 months now for parking over the line in Boucher. Just ignore, there hasn't been a single case taken in N.I. for one of the PCNs. Just bin the letters, some appear to be from debt collection companies, don't worry, they can't affect your credit rating, they'd have to obtain a CCJ and that's never going to happen.

Put in the red box. I've received around 20, I'm told it will stop soon enough.

The lines are there for a reason my friend. Otherwise they wouldn't bother painting them. That would be fun!

Some people who receive these charges might well believe that they are, so just a point of information, nothing more.
