Thanks debtfreeoneday
judi24 it all starts with a dream, I love dreamingAnd the exciting part is when you start thinking of how to make that dream come true :T
Money this month is not looking too bad, had a quick check today and it looks like I will save £900ish :j
The purchases so far this month:
£100 orthodontist
£42 toiletries to last for at least 6 months
£19 Brow Box
£22.50 Birthday cake, I picked this one http://www.patisserie-valerie.co.uk/p117_Charlotte-Gateau.aspx
=£183.50
Still to come, the spa to pay for.
Sold an e*ay item for £18 today, very pleased with that, especially as it was a free add on gift from Debenhams :j
Will have a look at what else I can list later on tonight.
Had some good news on Friday, the person I work with that I've mentioned before for being very negative is going to work from home cause she's moving away. I don't think it'll work out and she'll be forced out or quit herself but that's a separate issue, I'm just glad I won't be subjected to her horrific toxic passive aggressive behaviour for much longer. So YESSSSSS and woohoo to that :T:T:T
Things always work out...
Home made fish and chips for tea tonightyum
Which reminds me, when I first moved to NW and a friend invited me for tea, I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that they were having afternoon tea at 6pm :rotfl: I'd arrived having eaten and then had to force another dinner down me as not to look silly or rude :rotfl:0 -
I also did some maths today and by the time I qualify which should be in 18 months, I'll be taking home min £1000 more, which means almost £2000 per month savings. My mortgage should be about the same as my rent which is just crazy, isn't it  I need to buy asap and stop paying someone else's mortgage.
I was also adding up some numbers and if one saves £1k per month for 20yrs that's 240kI'd invest it way before that amount but it's an interesting thought, I'd only be 47yo.

Great savings this month - well done! :T
Its amazing isn't it when you start saving (or debt relaying in my case!) that when you work out how much you would save over a longer period of time you realise how huge the number can be! I worked out that once my debt its paid off if I continue to save the £1500 I pay of my debt a month now I would have £180 k in 10 years or I could have my mortgage paid off in 5 year (if I could overpay that much)
I doubt I will continue to be quite as frugal (I want to travel more with my kids) but certainly won't be going back to my spendy ways! but it's certainly food for thought!!!
Talking about food - that cake looks gorgeous!!!!0 -
judi24 it all really adds up! Makes sense to start as soon as possible and learn more about investments, it's something I'll have to look into myself.
We really want to travel too, we've been to quite a few countries in the EU but would love to spend a few weeks in the US soon, it'll have to be after the house purchase though. What about you guys? What's your destination?
Just had a dinner of chicken fajitas with guacamole and soured cream, absolutely delicious
And did a whole week's shop in A*da including washing powder and rubbish sacks for £12, how you ask? Well, I had a £34 price guarantee voucher :money:
Also made another £75 last night so :T all round.
Quiet Sunday everyone

Hello Diary
Last day at college today, planning to do the exam in 4 weeks now.
Going to sit down tomorrow, print out a calendar for Feb and Mar and mark all the relevant dates for exam, new course starting in March and how I'll work that around my job. I plan on studying for 2-3 days a week at work next and week after.
It's end of month then so it'll be a bit more difficult to squeeze a lot of studying into that week but I'll take every minute spare.
Money is on track, most of the stuff for DS's birthday having been bought. Did a fruit & veg shop at Aldi today for £7 and got loads, made an avocado salad for dinner.
Things are moving along nicely.
I did start feeling a little frustrated yesterday thinking I'm ready to move on in work but I can't because I need to finish my studies, I'm ready to buy the house but I can't cause I'm still saving, I'm ready to be with someone but I cannot find that someone! Decided I needed to meditate that over and I realised that though I may feel ready, that might not necessarily be the case. The destiny will bring me things in its own divine timing which is never wrong and I must respect that. As long as I am always working on myself and tuned into my own body and mind, it'll be OK.
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens :A
So I'll just keep on moving, keep on going in the right direction and things will happen. Mustn't rush, judi24 you know where I'm coming from0 -
Hello magician - you are doing so well but I have to say in many respect you sound like me - you are plotter, a schemer, a planner and doer. You want to get moving as you can see a goal and just want to get there - am I right?
And you will! You are moving in the right direction and fairly quickly too! Your saving pot is going up rapidly and you studies are moving forward at pace - so rest assured the rest will come! It is hard to be patient as I well and truly know - but time will fly! Do you have a total you need for the deposit?
Maybe I need to send Ampersand your way with her broom to swish you when you try to rush ahead!
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens :A
Wise words indeed - you just need to heed them now!!!0 -
judi24 It's all estimated at the moment but I expect to buy a house worth £150k, so:
10% deposit £15,000
Arrangement fee £1,000
Booking fee £1,000
Valuation fee £400
Survey fee £500
Stamp Duty £500
Solicitors £1,000
Land Registry Fee £200
=£19,600 or so...
I don't want debt hanging over me so I'd like to save it all up before buying. However, the plan is to start looking around November time and if I do find something I like, then I'll get a 0% purchase CC, put some fees on there and pay it off in the upcoming month/s. That doesn't bother me because I'm used to having 0% debt due to stoozing and I'm certain that I have the willpower to pay it off asap.
We do sound alikeI just don't get it when people don't have goals or don't know what they want, I cannot just plod along. I know what I want, I've got a good idea how to get there and I'm going to do it! Patience is a virtue and so I keep on repeating that. I've got plenty on my plate at the moment to keep me busy with work and studies so I'll channel all my energy there and keep on coming back to this diary to record all the events
I wish I was earning more so I could save more because I really cannot spend any less :rotfl: Well, that is apart from food which is actually going well this month, nice and cheap :T But that is all but a dream at the moment and a reality in a year or so
Stay focused.

I also wanna hit £4,600 this month and so I need £1,010. I'm on it like a car bonnet :money:0

Love the plan - you are absolutely on it and making great progress! I wouldn't be too worried about putting some of the fees etc on a 0% card as you clearly have the motivation and ability to pay it off! Like you I just don't get the fact that people have goals but I guess in relation to work I am not so focused on earning more anymore as I am doing a job I love which keeps me thinking and developing services and people - I am content with where I am (probably the first time in my whole career and I am a lot older than you!) - my focus up to now in my career has always been about earning more so I totally get where you are coming from - but patience is a virtue (so they say!) it will be worth it when you get the keys to your own place (and can get your own !!!!!cat! - I recommend a birman if you want a breed as they are absolutely gorgeous and fab with kids!!!)0

Thanks judi24 It isn't all about money when it comes to work, enjoyment comes first. But I do want to earn enough to allow me a house, car, travels, investment or two and not worrying about bills in general.
You're already doing very well and combine that with loving your job, you're onto a winner.
Been a good, quiet weekend. Went to Nand*'s yesterday with DS and my best mate, the food was delicious. Did an Ald* shop for £27 today, included all packed lunches for both of us, loads of fruit, veg, nuts, yogurt and other bits. All budgeted for but nothing left in entertainment this month so we'll just be entertaining ourselves
Went for a nice walk, was very quiet and calm, no wind or rain :T Could hear the birdies singing. When we move it'll definitely be near lots and lots of greenery.
That's all for Sunday.
