Providing you have a pre-printed paying in slip for your BoS account, you should be able to pay cheques into it at any UK bank.
... but they might charge you unless neither the cheque you are paying in or the account you are paying into is not that bank.0 -
Just don't accept cheques. Ask people to pay you by Faster Payment or PAYM.0

You can definitely withdraw cash from a BoS account at any Halifax branch
(limits may be different, but I think it's £2500 per day from a Halifax branch.)
Wouldn't be surprised if you could amend your personal at a Halifax branch too.
Afterall Halifax is just a brand name/division of BoS.
So like I said already,
You might get more success from one of the Halifax branches in Plymouth0 -
Halifax branches will allow deposits or withdrawals over the counter just like a BOS branded branch.
The Lloyds branchs will only allow you to deposit free of charge with a pay-in (BGC) book - which BOS can post you on request. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You can use Halifax branches if you have a BOS account in England & Wales, and vice versa, you can use a Halifax account in BOS branches in Scotland.0

Apparently, BOS customers cannot use the new Halifax branches in Scotland. You can use Halifax branches if you have a BOS account in England & Wales, and vice versa, you can use a Halifax account in BOS branches in Scotland. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I find that hard to believe as the Halifax branches would surely have the same systems as their branches in England/Wales/NI
I don't think they'd want to encourage BoS customers to use them. Two reasons:
1. There are BoS branches within 60 seconds walk of each Halifax branch.
2. Halifax invariably has a better product set - BoS customers shifting over to Halifax will be less profitable for LBG.0
