Have you contacted PALs - they will liaise on your behalf/advise? However, it does sound like this may have gone too far.

I think this dentist has made his mind up (and trying every trick as his disposal) so it is now down to the NHS, the GDC and if necessary the courts of England.

How does one go about bringing an NHS complaint?
Your first step should be a discussion with the Practice Manager, Further steps will follow on from that.

Seems the dentist would use that against me as he has already accused me of 'harassing' the staff and making them feel 'uncomfortable'.

That may be so, but a formal discussion with the PM is still the first step. Ensure the meeting is properly minuted.

I think I already asked for that whilst dropping off a letter. I was told she was 'on the phone' and was not told to wait.

I would also be very reluctant to conduct any further communications unless done by writing. It seems these are a bunch of people that are not hesitant to be less than truthful.

You need to write requesting an appointment with the PM. Nothing to stop you taking your own minutes of the meeting, sending a copy to the PM asking them to confirm your minutes are an accurate reflection of the discussion.
If you contact PALS, as someone has suggested, they will ask you if you've followed the practice's Complaints Procedure and if you haven't you will need to give PALS a fireproof reason for not doing so.

If the hospital or a consultant asks for a digital copy of the x ray this would be sent with no charge to you , as indeed paper copies had been sent.

You have been provided with paper copies for your own records, at no charge, and legally the practice can charge up to £50 to provide you with a digital copy for your own records.

It would appear that the relationship with both the clinical and reception staff at the practice has broken down. You yourself have said you feel suspicious about them and query their motives, surely this is enough for you to find a practice elsewhere ? How is it going to improve your clinical care by querying why the staff feel harassed and uncomfortable?

The best clinical care is obtained in the context of mutual trust.

Surely your interests would be best served in finding a new dental practice?

Obviously many decades of pain without any real solution or diagnosis is frustrating but it is difficult to see what "no good" the dentist could be up to and difficult to see in the events you have described any reason for suspicion.

    Thanks brook2jack.

I suggest the allegations of feeling 'harassed' etc. is merely a defensive tactic to make out that I am a 'troublemaker' in order to justify his actions. I suggest he is overplaying things to put it mildly.

It is indeed the case that he has broken my trust as a result of his unacceptable conduct.

Of course I will seek another dental practice though I'm not sure why I just can't consult another dentist at the same practice (perhaps this is why he is playing the card he has played). I'm surprised he hasn't gone as far as alleging I have been verbally abusive or something.

It is also a major inconvenience as I don't have a car and this practice is around the corner from where I live and it will also means all my notes need to be transferred etc.

I think Toothsmith has already mentioned why a dentist like this would be keen to behave unethically. I think if anyone has felt uncomfortable it is this dentist.

Is it best to ask my consultant to request a digital copy then as this may be more cost effective?

Would an external image such as that ^^^ get past an NHS Hospital Trust firewall?

Would expect email from one nhs.net account to another would be OK. Failing that there is a secure area to which to upload and provide digital key to the person who then downloads.
