Camera Van on double yellow !

  • One near me used to park on hatched road markings at a blind junction which were there to aid drivers in seeing what traffic was coming from the left before turning right. It even got in the regional daily paper but they just made their excuses.

Another used to park fully on the pavement next to a bus stop.

Once saw a speed camera van doing 60+ in the very 50 zone it had previously been watching. Bare in mind they're not the Police and have to obey the law, I overtook him at the next roundabout and then sat there blocking the f**ker in lane 2 :)

So you drive illegally to punish someone for parking (maybe) illegally.

    :rotfl:

Mind you having seen some of your dash-cam footage I'm not surprised
  • As I recall you cannot break the law in order to enforce the law, but saying that to those who are above the law is just futile and just means that you do not know your place "slave".

You're not breaking it if you are exempt.

Who give's the civilian operator exemption? they are a civilian remember, just because they are employed by the force, doesn't give them complete exemption to the highways and byways and the RTA.

The department of transport, the road traffic act which specific exemption are you asking about?

You still haven't told us where you were informed civilians couldn't gather evidence.

The camera vans usually have " working in conjunction with the so and so police" , they are not the police, not run by the police and have no more rights than you and I. If a mobile speed camera van is parked illegally then it is operating outside the law and cannot legally enforce tickets(they need a closure certificate to operate parked on the verge or pavement just like a builder would to obstruct the public highway in the course of his work)There needs to be a police officer present to witness the crime to make it enforceable which there never usually is otherwise we could all buy a van and speed camera and dish out tickets to people as we see fit ! People get confused as Gatso cameras and motorway gantry cameras operate under a different section of the law and can enforce payment without an officer being present , it's not the same rules as for a council official in a transit van who happens to have the word " police" on the vehicle. There is a spot near me where there is a little laybay they operate from which has a sign stating "police vehicles only" attached to it. The vehicles that park there with cameras are council vehicles so are in fact operating illegally as all police vehicles are crown vehicles and do not need road tax as are ambulances and the ones I used to drive for the blood transfusion service

Come on then I'll humour you lets have s link to back that up.

Which police officer witnessed Peter Sutcliffe commit his mureders? Or Fred West, Harold Shipman. Did they also witness the Great Train Robbery too?

Nonsense. If the 'police' vehicle is parked illegally (which I doubt) then that is an offence, but it is a totally separate matter and has no bearing on any enforcement activity.

Again, nonsense. Thousands of crimes are successfully prosecuted daily, but very few have conveniently had a police officer present.

There is a simple solution to the argument of whether whatever is 'enforceable' or not.

The solution is, if one receives a ticket, to have one's day in Court......Present one's arguments as a Defence, and see what happens?

That much, everyone is entitled to do.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
