I have my main email address which i check regular and is used for banking and sites that need valid verification along with personal contacts.
I also have a spam email address which is for sign ups on swagbucks clicksense etc
I don't have a FB account but i've just created one using this spam email address hopefully that will suffice with Crowdflower.

Is it your real name you use for the email, and what about address etc, do they ask all that?0 -
when creating the email address i'm not sure as this was quite some time ago. not sure if it ever asked for my address etc my name is correct yes but if you want to give a nickname thats also fine.
with the new facebook account i just used that email address and thats it
you'd be suprised how many people have spam email addresses for competitions sign ups etc otherwise you'd get all the spam they send to your main email address.0 -

I'm only level 1 - so don't get a lot of high paid tasks but yes March was a bit slow I believe too.
I think you can log in to CF website directly and raise a ticket to helpdesk to discuss. I believe author of the task decides which website the task will be featured.
Swagbucks doesn't pay much. Clixsense and Neobux both have task completion bonuses so better. Any chance to use them for you?
Unfortunately I won't be using Crowdflower anymore and therefore voids my need of any GPT site. Crowdflower is now requiring you login to your dashboard through your Facebook account. I, however, will not create a Facebook account. In fact, you couldn't pay me to join that atrocity of a website. So no, I won't be using them. GPT are mostly useless to me these days because I am not one who qualifies for many surveys and offers do not like to credit me very often. I'll be looking for "work" elsewhere. I'm not sure what I will do but it's not going to be with GPT sites. And definitely not Crowdflower after this terrible and inexcusable mistake they have taken. But par for the course for me; I wasn't getting much work to begin with as of lately. I knew it wouldn't last much longer.0 -
With regards to using a pseudonym or fake name be aware that if someone chooses to notify Facebook that you're not using your real name they WILL ask to see Photo ID.
I know because this happened to me recently. I annoyed someone online, with my own opinion, and they reported me. I was locked out of my account, which is linked to a business account, and it took 24 hours to get it all sorted (I was using my real name).
Why are people so worried about granting access to their Facebook account? I've granted it to 100s of websites in the last few years and I've never had my information harvested anymore than joining any spammy GPT offers.
Should anyone want to make a fake Facebook account you can just get an email address with Gmail, or any other free company, and sign up. Make your name, submit your email and that is about it. You put in a Birthday and a few other bits of information, make sure you write them down if you are going to make a fake one, but be aware that Crowdflower likely already know the name that you've been using and might match that up?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have Facebook, but rarely use it. I don't like the CF idea to log in using my FB account because I don't understand how they would use the data.....what will they be able to see, what info can they gather? I wouldn't want to grant them access to my friend's, their photos, their private information. Goodness knows what these companies do with it, it is for their benefit not ours and they're not going to advertise their gains I suppose.
Similarly if questionnaires or surveys ask for too much personal info about me or my family, my location, children's dobs etc I just close them down and refuse to do them too.
Maybe I'm paranoid/clueless but I always think better safe than sorry.....:cool:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You should be able to see what they will have access to before you authorise it.
Usually it says that they can see who is on your friends list (but not access their profiles) and your date of birth etc.
Obviously exercising caution is best so for anyone not comfortable really you've got two choices. 1. Don't do it and don't task anymore or 2. Make a fake account and hope for the best. If it was a choice between 1 or 2 only I would say 2 as you might as well make some money while you can.
The only time I've ever had a problem with my address/date of birth etc is when someone bought my information from 192.com and preceeded to use it to harass me and my family. Thankfully the police dealt with it but if you are on the electoral roll or the main database with your council anyone can find out your information from your name/town.
Best to err on the side of caution, if in doubt then just make a fake account? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I hope that before they introduce this, they will give a little more information - some information - as to why they deem this a necessary step, how they would use any information (although currently they say they will not) etc which would allay any fears.
I also hope, though past experience does not particularly give me cause for optimism, that in introducing this new scheme it does not render the whole thing unworkable as the introduction of new levels etc did.
Given I have no control over what they do, I suppose hope is all that I can do.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300
