Amazon Seller Harrasement

I recently bought a phone on amazon and it was fake so I spoke to amazon and they refunded me and said don't send it back and they will take action against the seller.

So I got my money and the phones sitting there but every day I receive phone calls from the seller demanding I send it back even though amazon and the police told me not to.

I've tried phoning the phone company and getting them to block withheld numbers but its an unknown number and they are different for reasons I don't really understand.

Amazon said they will investigate and all the sellers things disappeared from the marketplace. They said that they will co-operate with the police should i press charges and gave me an email but they have stopped replying to me now.

I don't know what to do and any advice would be really appreciated.

Call the police and ask them if you should give the phone to them.
If they say no then either a) bin it, or b) turn it off, stick it in a drawer and forget about it.

What about contacting the manufacturer the phone is claiming to be made by? Brands such as Apple are very keen to protect their brand and research forgeries. Aside from phones, Cath Kidston ask customers to tell them about fake products too.
  • Thanks guys I will look into that but they keep phoning my house phone it's been all day now and amazon well and truly have left me out to dry without any replies at all.
  • Tell the seller you no longer have the phone, because the police have it (yes, I know you still have it).
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • That is probably the best answer to be honest I might try that I am kind of out of ideas. I sent an email to Samsung as well saying I was sold a fake phone so hopefully they will do something as well.

Have you contacted the police regarding the harassment as well as the phone?
I'm not sure what level things have to reach before they can act on it but they can contact your phone provider and ask for details regarding the origination of the call. It's not quite as straightforward as when you can see the number calling you but it's generally possible to find out where the call came from.

Making a harassing, obscene or malicious phone call is a criminal offence. If you receive a particularly threatening call you should report it to your local police by dialling 101 (0845 600 8000 in Northern Ireland). The police can authorise the phone service to trace malicious calls. If the person who is making the calls is prosecuted, you may have to give evidence in court.

I did I have a police reference number but they said they couldn't really do anything unless it was threatening in which case they could call interpol. For the phone they said if I was you I would just send it to amazon and tell them to deal with it but amazon arn't even trying to help anymore.

I did phone my provider yesterday and they gave me some service which blocks withheld numbers for free (ty virgin) but it doesn't work if the number if unknown rather than withheld :(

I've got an address of the company who keeps phoning me as well as a phone number which I managed to track down through google it was on their alibaba profile.

I really do appreciate the help guys and yes I do know I was stupid to buy anything from China but I thought it was ok beacuse it was amazon and it wasn't really any cheaper than the others. Ok it was like a tenner less.

I would as said tell him/her Police have it. If you can no longer hang up all time on them which I am sure they get message sometime or other.

you can block unknown numbers with some call blockers but that costs money. I never accept withheld numbers and block any numbers I have been pestered with. I just think life is too short to have to worry about idiots like this muppet
  • Thanks guys its just been ten times today all i wanted was a phone so I would save money and not have to get a contract =(
