Can be worth a try but given AA is a fairly big broker they probably own the customer and Axa cannot make amendments directly to the policy from customer instructions0 -
it might be cheaper to hire a van with insurance than to self insure a van for 1 day.
Short term insurance is a rip off. Supposedly it's for "admin fees", but to me it's all nonsense, everything is done on computer.0 -

What would you suggest he does with this hire van, leave it parked up while he goes and buys another one on a Sunday?0 -
Are you insured to drive any vehicle?
Hastings covered me for any vehicle.
If you take out a policy with hastings with a start date of Saturday/sunday and then cancel it they will charge you for 1/365th but then charge you I think £25 to cancel the policy within 14 days. You have to pay the full amount upfront to avoid credit charges but they refunded my premium back to me last week within about 4 working days (I had to change insurer after changing car).
Considering how cheap they are I actually cant fault their customer services, never made a claim like but I am quite impressed with them and would have stayed with them if they were competitive for my new car.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. How will that help the OP?0 -
You can get cover for one day.
When i started work on the Cabs we'd take a knowledge test but then before we got our badge (licence), we had to do a driving test in a Black Cab. The only way we could do that was going around other Cab owners/drivers and asking could we borrow their Cab for an hour, so they'd need to go to their insurers and add our name for the day, It could turn out to be quite expensive 'cos on top of the insurance we'd need to pay the owner for his loss of earnings while we drove off in his Cab.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Youre so stupid, all you need to do is drive it back to the hire place 60 miles away after buying the van and then drive back u- oh, wait....0 -
Phone AXA on the Saturday and add the van you're looking at until Monday. Cost will be pretty low (I've only done this with cars but I think it was about £20-30 for the day). You'll be insured from when you take possession of the van, but it does mean you likely have to pay even if you don't buy it.
Any standalone temporary van insurance will cost a lot more.
Alternatively, can you buy it on Sunday, phone on Monday and sort the insurance, and then either go collect it or get it delivered?0 -

It would. But the OP can only buy a van on a Sunday, if he hires one on Sunday, he'll have the same problem on Monday i.e. he has no van and can only pick it up on a Sunday.0 -
Pays for a year but then gets 364 days refunded minus a £25 cancellation fee. Probably miles cheaper than paying for 1 days insurance with a short term insurer.Master_Blaster wrote: »How will that help the OP?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
