Insurance for 1 day ?

Hi all,
I am self employed and van I use for work purposes has died ( not viable to fix )
I need to replace ASAP, but working Mon-Sat leaves me little time.
I insure with Axa ( but via AA ) and times for customer service are 0830-1900 M-F & 0900-1500 Sat.
I have seen a potential replacement online @ a dealers, but as its 50/60 miles away, probably wont be able to travel up till Sunday.
My concern is that if I do want this van, I wont be able to contact my insurers to swap cover over until the Monday, and in the meantime would have to drive it back home effectively un-insured.
Anyone able to advise on best solution for this ? Thanks

I would have thought that if you were insured fully comp on you exsisting van then that policy would allow you to drive another vehicle on third party insurance which would cover you for driving the new van home.
I know my policy does this.0 -
Why not buy just day insurance? Not recommending TempCover but their quote and buy system does allow you to cover vans including for business use.0

DOC only allows you to drive other people's vans, the OP is buying the van on Sunday and so DOC wouldnt cover it given it will then be his.
A work around is to "borrow" it but this is clear fraud and the seller would have to be complicit in it0 -
Buy day insurance
A quick check of one of the most popular companies shows they will cover a van for business use. Be aware the price isnt 1/365th of an annual policy though!0 -
Thanks for feedback :T
I am insured fully comp on a business policy.
Will contact insurance later, it may be that they have a different dept that handles transfers out of hours - I would think Sundays are one of the busiest days for vehicle sales..
Will speak to dealer as got to confirm van still available, and they might have some way of temp covering me.0 -
I have insurance for commercial vehicles, including vans. When we want to add a temporary one, or add a permanant one, we can either fax or e-mail the agent out of hours with the details, ( vehicle make, reg, time of collecting vehicle). Would your insurer offer a similar arrangement?0

Maybe the simple answer is to make time when they are open?0

Simple google search gives loads of options to insure the van for the day

Don't forget to tax it either.:)0 -
There are lots of temporary cover / 24 hr cover websitesChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

I'd ring AXA (by passing the aa's call centre) have a word with them and explain the situation, being a proper insurer they should have weekend admin on, hopefully you could get things pencilled in place and a simple call if you buy the vehicle to confirm will sort it.0
