How to make her feel better?

Our family had the sad news that my uncle has lung cancer this week. Obviously upsetting for all involved but I am worried how my nan is taking the news. She has already had to bury one son due to suicide 8 years ago and the thought she may have to go through that again is tearing me apart.
I want to do something nice for her but I cant think of anything that isn't a bit lame.

The best thing you can do for her is to let her know you are there for her and how much you care.
What a sad time for all of you, thoughts with you0 -
Maybe just listening to her talk or helping her practically?
Big box of posh biscuits and some tea and coffee and sugar, if there are likely to be lots of visitors? Freeze some milk, so that she knows there is some for contingency.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Thank you, I just feel so awful for her. I cant imagine (im sure no one can...) losing one of my children and she is now faced with losing her 2nd. She lives with my mum and dad so is with people 99% of the time so has lots of company.0 -
We are a 4-5 hour drive from my uncle, do you think it might be forward of me to offer to take her there for a few days to see him?0

So sorry for your news.
I think that's a good idea, do start off gently by asking if she would like to go up to see him maybe?0 -
Thank you, I am going to be seeing her again tomorrow evening so will suggest a road trip. She is almost 80 but is great health herself so the journey shouldnt be to taxing on her.0

I would arrange a big family get together for her, surprise her with all those who love her the most.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I think she may be overwhelmed for a large get together. Just talking with me earlier she was quite choked up0

Im sorry about your news but you have not said how bad this cancer is. More people now recover from cancer nowadays than die from it.
I know so many people who have survived it, one or two who sadly haven't.
Bide your time and don't presume he has got terminal cancer.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
