I think the longer a thread continues the higher the probability of leftest rubbish?

To the person who doesn't respect the dysons of this world (I am sure his thousands of employees would disagree with you!!) And (without such people we would still be living in caves) how about Martin Lewis? He has become wealthy from this website for in your words 'selfish reasons' but has probably created direct good to you where as Dyson hasn't??

To the other person who says don't see it as a punishment, it is! It is not a negotiation it is enforced with out consultation.

As apposed to right wing rubbish.

how do you hold a conversation, you must be one of those people who just ignore what is being said to them and just babbles crap back at the other person without listening to what is being said...
    ^^ Perfect definition of a politician :D

PS - there's an awful lot of gullible people on this forum!

No one has a right to a free hand out, but then no one has a right to be rich either. Everything is negotiated.

Going back to Mylene Klass, a celebrated self made milloinairess balking at a lefty tax. Lets put her somewhere else, like Somalia.

Mylene isn't rich in Somalia. In fact she isn't even allowed to walk around with her head uncovered, and was married to someone she had never met when she was 12 years old.

On the offchance she did ever get to sing into anything there would have been no distribution network for her songs and even if there were, her manager stole all her money and there was nothing she could do about it, because there was no legal system or police force for her to turn to.

She got to do all of these things in the UK because at every turn an army of people vastly poorer than she is exist to ensure that she is able to continue to do them.

It is fair therefore, is it not, that Mylene has a bit less of her enormous fortune, so that these people can have a bit more?

Isn't that how it works already? The rich pay vastly more tax than the poor in relative and absolute terms.

Perhaps she should pay more and perhaps she should pay less. The fact is that she almost certainly pays more tax than you in % terms and definitely in £ terms.

There comes a point where she'd rather not pay more. That doesn't seem unreasonable.

According to her 'the rich' (I'm not sure whether she considers herself to fall under this category) pay very little in terms of income tax as they all have 'super clever accountants' (or whatever term she used).

So taxing property would seem like a better way of turning them upside down and shaking some coins out of their pockets.

I am more Mylene averse than I might otherwise be as I know someone who had to work on an ongoing project with her, and apparently she is a complete c0ck. As all she every normally encounters are fawning yes-people it would have been nice to have seen Ed bring her down to earth but apparently even this was beyond him.

He can't even master a sandwich so you were probably setting your sights rather too high...
  • If the taxes on higher incomes wasn't so high, which many avoid anyway. At some point the level of tax would equal the cost of avoiding the tax so they just pay the tax instead of avoiding it thus giving higher rrevenues for government. Just blindly taxing the rich more and more is just stupid and leads to less tax revenue

Is there a method, or benchmark, or something else that I can use to determine if I am left or right?

I used to suspect I am left, but a colleague's comment the other day about something I said makes me suspicious I could be righty...

Personally I'm more interested in how much richer or poorer I get rather than worrying about everyone else.

If I get a 10% pay rise and the idiot I sit next to at work gets an 11% rise then good luck to them. I'm richer, she's richer. Good for us both, right?
