as their friend, but was charged double, because the owner thinks they can afford more, would the lefty be ok with this?
If not, how does the lefty justify current tax rates. Why should you pay more for the same thing just because you might be able to afford more???
Why don't we just say - last year it cost £300bn to run the UK. There are currently 50 million working age people, so that is £6000 each to live here.
That way, everyone pays the SAME for the SAME services.
We can invent a no man's land area where people can go if they don't pay their share, but they get no services there. They can go there voluntarily if they wish.
A much fairer system.

yes, we all pay the same for the same.
instead of the current tax system which is operated in a grossly unfair way, we all pay the same for the police, roads, army, nhs etc etc.
In a shop it works like this:
Hello, i'd like an apple
Yes, it is 50p.
Thank you.
Meanwhile, in leftyville:
Hello, I'd like an apple as well
Yes, it is £4 for you as you earn more
Thanks.
But in my world, everyone pays 50p for the same product.
It really is that simple.0 -

This is just a wild guess but do you earn closer to £100k than £20k?0 -
So in your little world white horse who would clean the streets, collect the rubbish work in shops and restaurants for that matter? In order to have the rich people you need to have the people who do the lesser paid jobs in order for it all to work.
Or do you think street cleaners, waiting staff, porters, shop staff etc etc should all be paid £50k a year?
We live in a society white horse with people of all abilities most of whom make an important contribution to society. Yes unfortunately there is a number of people who are spongers and I have no time for them and the problem is and it always has been the problem in how do you deal with the people who have no intention of working.0 -
Buying an apple is optional, paying taxes (ideally) isn't.0

So if we have flat rate tax it needs to be affordable to everyone. Presumably the only amount that could be charged is zero?
So we then have no tax, and no services?
Or if someone is on say 10k pa and flat tax is also 10k, do they work to pay tax or do they just watch tv and get benefits.
Your argument is illogical to the max0 -

i earn a low salary. I am just looking out for my richer fellow citizens and the grossly unfair tax levied on them.
Everyone uses the same facilities, so we should all pay the same for them.
why should someone "rich" pay more for the army, for example, than someone "poor"? Do they not both get the same protection and same use? The only justification is "because they can afford to" - which isn't right. Otherwise, go back to square one where every product costs more or less depending on your salary. It's madness.0
