No benefit at all - well apart from getting anything up to £150 cashback depending on what you are getting and what's on offer at the time.
Search for Quidco and TopCashBack for starters0 -
Is there a particular phone number to ring BT on please - would like to stay on the terms quoit got but otherwise I'm off to PlusNet.0

If you are renewing Annual Line Rental do it before Dec 1 if possible as rate goes up then (you can do it some days in advance. I've just done that and mine doesn't renew until 16 Dec).
When I rang up, in response to a letter that muttered about charging for BT Sport, to say I did not want it I was offered Broadband at £5.65 instead of £16 for a 12 month contract with absolutely no pushing at all. The year before they had been "doing me a favour" to reduce it to £16.0 -

The BT number to call is 0800 328 6738 to request a MAC code.
Several words of warning...
I had to phone them again after my post here yesterday because I realised soon after that I'd possibly been stitched up to a degree with their offer.
I had wrongly assumed the prices they quoted me were fixed for another 12 months contract but they weren't. The offer was based on current prices. BT prices are due to rise next week on December 1st which would have resulted in an annual bill of £341.50 instead of £314.64.
I asked them to cancel the offer I'd agreed to a few hours earlier and requested a MAC code again in order to join Plusnet. It was only at that point that I was then offered a credit of £26.86 in order to make up the difference.
I therefore remain with BT for the next 12 months despite the temporary setback of realising I'd been duped somewhat. Another haggling lesson duly learnt. Discounted offers aren't always what they appear to be0 -

My current Line Rental Saver (£141) doesn't run out until 31st December. I was told yesterday by a BT customer services operative that I could renew at the current price of £159.84 provided I did so on November 30th, a month before my current runs out.
It was only when I discovered online that you can only renew Line Rental Saver up to 27 days before your 12-month term ends that I was alerted to the rest of my offer from BT yesterday to not quite be all that it seemed.
I then received a credit of £26.86 yesterday which included a £10.06 credit for Line Rental Saver as part of my deal to stay with BT.0 -
Being told that Plusnet "traffic Manage" broadband whereas BT don't?, I am confused as I need a good speed and connection.
Hi,
We use traffic management in order to provide a good quality of connection. As others have said in here, the idea behind it is that certain types of traffic are prioritised above others. So VPN, Streaming, Gaming etc should take priority over P2P, Usenet etc.

Thanks for your advice - I tried phoning them on another number that was for retentions/moving home.
The best they could do was c£160 for 12 months line rental plus £20/month for 12 months for Anytime/Unlimited BB/BT Sport HD...£400 total! Not even close.
The chap said it was because I wasn't in a low-cost broadband area, but that doesn't seem to matter to PlusNet (I've put my details into the link)? Really annoying that I should have to pay more for a cr*p broadband service!!!0 -

I'd give it another go by phoning the number I provided above. Answering service will ask you to press 1 for a MAC code or press 2 for any other enquiries. In other words, it's a direct line to their hardcore retentions department. As soon as I'd pressed 1 for a MAC code and then requested one, the offer came as soon as I mentioned I was joining Plusnet.
If you still get no joy, cancel and go for the Plusnet deal which I think ends today at midnight.0
