Car accident

This is going to end up being a case of one driver doing something the other didn't like (myway code versus myway code) and then both winding eachother up until an accident occurred. This could well backfire badly........
At the very least it's going to bump up your insurance for 5 years, even if your not found at fault (it's just the way insurance companies work).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I dont see why this is added to all discussions about claims these days
A) Some insurers only ask about 3 years so to say that its the very least and increase for 5 years is clearly wrongSome dont load for a single non-fault claim, indeed some done even load for a single fault claim. Rating is complex and if you are a otherwise low risk its likely to have little or no impact but for some it will
No one can actually say with any certainty what it impact it will had until 3-5 years time when its dropped off the record and we know which insurer/ broker the OP went through. This is why its next to impossible to get a settlement from the TP on future increases in premiums (beyond the time taken to settle the claim and possibly the following renewal) as its a large unknown.0 -
If someone has a non-fault accident, are they or are they not considered to be a higher risk?
And, in this case it's starting to sound like both parties had a role to play in causing this incident.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

no win no win has hidden fees that you don't see! I would pay the excess for now and then wait for the police to sort and then seek to get compensated through the correct channels - many be lengthy but all above board-X-Missima-X-0

Mass market products work on statistics not "risk". Over the top of this commercial considerations are then layered.
There is an argument that someone who's had a non-fault accident is possibly slightly higher risk because their choice of parking spaces/ their driving style etc may well be a contributing factor and next time the other person may not stop or your late hard breaking may be just too late etc. Insurers will interrogate their database to see if this perceived increased risk actually results in real world changes to claims profile and if it does, is it statistically relevant enough to give loadings or if its minor difference is there a commercial reason that means you may not want to reflect it?
Of cause not all insurers will see the same from their stats nor will they all have the same commercial considerations otherwise we would all get quoted the identical price whenever we get a quote0 -
A series of events that led up to this "accident" where the other driver came out and gave you abuse.
Sounds very much like road rage.
Did you "brake test" him by any chance for driving too close / aggressively? All your base are belong to us.0 -
I don't understand. If I claim on his insurance then my no claims is affected?!
Surely it should just be his insurance that is affected, not mine?
I guess you would call it road rage. In short: he cut me up at a roundabout, I returned the favour at the next one. He wound his window down and hit my car with his fist as I went past. He stopped for a while and I carried on driving for about 0.2 miles. He then came speeding along and smashed into the back of my car.No one has ever become poor by giving0 -
Your insurance should be affected if you go around playing tit for tat with other road users. You are just putting yourself, other road users and ultimately your insurers at more risk.
if he alleges you brake checked him, following the revelations you have just given in your previous post, frankly I wouldn't touch your claim as you largely sound like you were the author of your own misfortune and your credibility in denying you had caused or contributed towards the final "incident" will be on the floor.0 -

.
Irrespective of which insurer you get to pay for this you have a claim on your record which you will have to disclose in the future. when applying for quotes. The time frame asked for history is 3/5 years
If you are held responsible or partly responsible then your no claim bonus will be affected too! (And if that is the case his insurers or a claim handler won't deal with your claim)0 -

Your NCD isnt impacted but NCD is just a discount its not the underlying premium and this MAY be impacted as you have to declare the incident for 3-5 years (depending on insurer/ broker) and some will change your premiums due to having a non-fault claim.0
